Is it possible to have a wedding under $10,000 in NJ/NYC?

Is it possible to have a wedding under $10,000 in NJ/NYC/PA? I want to invite 100 people. I really can't justify dropping $30,000 on ONE night when it can go towards a house, etc. If anyone has stories on how they did it, please share! (This is the budget for the whole wedding)

Our budget in NYC right now is 7k for 50 people. No DJ, officiant is someone we personally know. And I'm still not sure we will come in under budget.

no you aren't- not without cutting some massive corners- and or doing cake/punch- heavy apps (MAYBE).

It's not happening without doing something crazy rude. It's just not. Sorry not sorry.

NYC here. My original budget was $10k. We're going to hit $20-$25k with 60 guest including my FH and myself.

    Lol @ 6k. Yeah, that's not happening. We're at $20k for 75 guests and that's on a Sunday.

Without the honeymoon, we're a little over $35k. That doesn't include what we were gifted (DJ, my dress - both of which cost over $2k). My wedding is on a Thursday night with 190 guests.

So my answer is no, it can't be done lol.

eta: my wedding is on Long Island (Nassau County).

    eta2: @Tara, wut?

    Snort.

My wedding was awesome- so sorry not sorry.

But then you aren't paying for things- you've got friendors who are gifting you their time and services- the value of which well exceeds 6K.

let's not kid ourselves.- and even you admit that it's because you have connections-

Unless you hustled your ass off and have friendors- IT"S NOT POSSIBLE.

@Katrina my wedding WILL be awesome, and my family and friends will get to enjoy themselves instead of working for free.

I knew friendors had to be involved lol

@Katrina......So you're calling in a lot of favors, which means, in essence your budget is not your budget. So don't arrogantly, smugly post that you're on a low budget and call us ignorant, (which is against CG's by the way, oh mighty one star poster....) and post that it is possible. Because unless you're going ask colleagues to work for nothing or for a deep discount, it's not.

And just for the record, I've married many colleagues and not one has asked for a discount.

@Katrina -- I'd appreciate if you apologize, especially the name calling part. Everyone here has a job, has bills to pay, and is in the same boat of planning a wedding. Just because our budget might be larger doesn't equate to being "shallow". I'm not asking you to agree with my perspective (and believe other posters are the same). At least you should be respectful even if it's towards strangers via the internet. That's just manners. I didn't flagged your post (yet) because I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt perhaps you're just stressful from wedding planning.

Good luck! You will need to change your attitude especially you're marrying into a new family and forming your own little family.

We are having a NJ wedding just outside of NYC and we are tracking for about $18,000 at this point!!! There are ways!!! We actually even found ways to do it even cheaper than that as we are hitting about $100pp. Check out venues such as wineries or on a boat cruise, etc. Some venues in the Poconos, around Hershey, etc. have some great offerings to do something great for a bit less....and it gives you an excuse to get everyone together in a beautiful location!!!

I don't what kind of wedding your trying to do. I'm in the same dilema but with double the people thanks to my fiance. I've been looking at Parks and Farms and some really good websites. I think I found a deal for 8,000 in a state park. And that included chairs, tables, tent and 200 people. And it has a barn!! I wish you luck from a Jersey Bride!!
