Is it possible to have a wedding under $10,000 in NJ/NYC?

Is it possible to have a wedding under $10,000 in NJ/NYC/PA? I want to invite 100 people. I really can't justify dropping $30,000 on ONE night when it can go towards a house, etc. If anyone has stories on how they did it, please share! (This is the budget for the whole wedding)

I have a guest list of 80 people, and my final costs are going to be about $18,000. I'm in PA. But, we're spending about $7,000 on the venue, so I think with the right venue (somewhere like a park that charges a small fee or donation but still has a building or pavilion) you could do that here on a $10,000 budget. I shopped around hard for a dj to get a decent price for good service, same with my caterer (who is reputable and not inflating the prices because wedding).

I would say in central PA area its absolutely possible, if you budget right.

@A.L. we are seriously twinning. Your wedding date is my birthday and my initials are A.L. (for now). Also, I'm getting married in NYC, the guest list is roughly 85-95 and we're probably gonna spend near the same amount. This post isn't really relevant to the thread, but I had to comment!

@2BMrsKing, where do you live? because it's definitely not the tri-state area for that price!

Check out celebrations... it's a little magazine thing with lots of vendors advertise in ... pretty places some as low as $60 pp ... some with tax included !! I think you could keep it to about 15k ... if you work hard ... my original budget was 15k btw and it jumped up to 25k for 80 people .. I'm in Philadelphia.. it can be done but your going to have to make sacrifices which I did not want to make .

@2bmrsking. You must be paying for the cheapest pros out there ... because that is impossible ... what in the world are these people eating..

Not possible in NYC. My FH live in the city and we couldn't find anything less than $30K. If you want under $10K you need to seriously cut the guest list or find some great deals on second hand websites.

    Mrs 2B?

That is not happening anywhere in this area. It's not just minority thinking.

It all comes down to the same basic question; do you you want to treat 100 people poorly and be stressed from now until the or do you want to treat a small group really well? If you HAVE to have 100 guests, you do cake and punch after the ceremony.

Buunycita - fyi - Sunday weddings are certainly not CHEAP... maybe slightly cheaper, but definitely not cheap. I am having a Sunday wedding for 165 guests and I am at 42K and that does not even include my dress which my parents bought for me. it also does not include our honeymoon.

Just a photo/video package in NYC/NJ is 6-7K... (or more) there are cheaper ones, too... but honestly I hated their style/quality and I interviewed A LOT OF CHEAPER ones... just not for me.

    good luck!

OP listen to Celia. We're in the outer boroughs spending over 45k on 105 guests. Cut the guest list. Just our photo and video is 8-9k.

I agree with Tamara, Sundays don't make your wedding much cheaper, I still spent 14k on 80 people.

Definitely no. Remember that that budget isn't just for food and drink, it includes transportation, photography (photography alone will cost you MINIMUM $1000).

Do what I did and think the greater NY area and cut your guest list.

I think it's possible to have a wedding for almost any budget, anywhere, However, it's not necessarily possible to have the wedding you want for that budget.

It's not IMPOSSIBLE, but you really really really have to prioritize hosting your guests properly. Meaning your attire and decor budgets will be close to 0. No favors. Probably no DJ in favor of a carefully curated playlist. Hiring a photographer would be really tough. And you'll probably have to ditch your date - it's a Friday, but it's in peak season, and it's kind of soon.

Go look at Beaver Brook Country Club (Annandale, NJ) and tell them you're considering a date in November. The event coordinator there brought out the *secret* all-inclusive off-season package for me, which includes open bar, tax and gratuity at about $60pp. Spend the rest of your money on an officiant who will give you a meaningful ceremony.

I'm in CT and we were thinking we could keep it around that to...nope. We are well past. It really depends on venue and vendors. There were things we could live without and then there were things we agreed were a must.

My guess would be a cake and punch reception for that amount of money.
