Is it OK for groomsmen to wear a mix of tux and suits or will it look too messy?

Private User, on March 11, 2013 at 12:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

We're having a morning May wedding in California and Ive got two guys coming from England (major Expense) and I dont really want to cause an extra financial burden on either of them. The only problem is that a couple of the guys here can get tuxedos pretty handily and Im not too sure expecting the guys coming from England to fork out for more stuff is fair so I was wondering if it would look a bit dodgy having a 2/2 Suit/tux mix with Me (groom) in Tux.

Then I was also worried about it looking too formal anyway since its a morning May wedding and scrapping tux altogether and going with suits/morning dress for everyone...

Do the guys here not have access to a suit? I would definitely stay away from mixing, it would not look good. Suits for all is my opinion.

Mixing suit/tux styles will look funny in the wedding pics if you ask me. They will definitely stand out. If you feel this strongly about not putting another financial burden on them, then help pitch in for the tux rental.

I think a mix of tuxes and suits might end up looking a little disorganized. I think you can mix suits, though, without a problem, and for a morning wedding that's what I'd do.

Welcome to WW, Katie! I would just have all your guys wear black suits. All the guys should be able to find something that works for them and they'll be able to keep it to wear after for other formal affairs. I definitely think that's better than mixing the two and suits can usually be found for prices comparable to renting a tux.

I hope you'll update your avatar (the rings) to ANY unique picture we can more easily remember you by in the future! This post tells you how to do that and more: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/welcome-to-the-weddingwire-forums-please-read-if-you-are-new/b433c40c1a62b96a.html

Thanks for the advice guys, I thought thats what people would suggest. Ill go for the black suit option instead then :-) A bit less formal for the afternoon and plus I'll (the groom who has hijacked the missus' WW account :-) ) be wearing a nice morning dress suit to stand out a bit more. If anyone else has any ideas then Im all ears!

Our guys wore a mix....can you guess who's got what on...and one has a pinstripe. I think it's the vest that makes the difference (and we decided not to go with one). I didn't want them to have to something new or rent, so the guys who had tuxes wore them and the ones who had suits wore them.

They would kill me if they knew I posted this one, but it cracks me up lol
