Is it normal to having cold feet about my wedding dress?!

FutureMrsMorle, on February 22, 2014 at 12:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 22

Hey all -

I found my dress last moth and have it already - and I do LOVE it, I really do...but it's a tight fitting mermaid dress, and I didn't think about sitting down or even try to at the store. And being able to move and dance in it all night..ect. The one I ordered is a little big so when I tried it on again at home it's too big in the stomach and top, and slightly too long. SO then I'm fearful the alterations won't make it fit perfectly (which in reality I know they will, but since I'm not a professional I'm thinking wont they mess it up or the lace and beading..ect. Crazy - I know)

I'm sure it will be fine - and when I see pictures of me in it I love it again - just trying to see if anyone else is in the same boat?

I have attached a few pics..let me know - the guy is not my FH but my FAB dress consultant.

You look amazing but I think its very normal to wonder about your dress. I am in the same boat (I keep looking at pictures of my 2nd choice but everyone that sees pictures of me in my dress say its beautiful). If you run a forum search, you will say that many brides have second thoughts about their dress.

Your dress is gorgeous! The fact that you keep looking at pictures and loving it all over again shows you made the right choice. I know it can be hard sometimes to trust that other people are going to take it as seriously as you (such as the alterations person) but they do this for a living and they will make sure you are comfortable in it, whether you are sitting, standing, dancing, etc. Lots of people wear that style of dress on their wedding day, so try to relax =)

I know exactly how your feeling. You do look beautiful though. With my dress, I was not able to take a picture of the dress when I had it on, until after I purchased it. I had a disaster of a makeup trial and tried it on again with the makeup/hair done. Needless to say, really disliked the look, but it had to do with the makeup/hair disaster and I don't think the dress.

I think that most of us feel that way at some point. You honestly look like a million dollars in that dress and I would keep it. I think it's amazing and you Rock that dress.

Good Luck and Happy Planning Smiley smile

I recently bought my dress, and after a good night of sleep, I had a total meltdown thinking that I should have gone with my second pick... It's normal I suppose. I finally got over those moments of panic and am glad with MY dress...

And as these other ladies said, you look amazing in that dress! It is gorgeous!!

Ahh, I love WW and all of you! It's just such a big decision and so many people looking at you all night, it's slightly scary if you made the wrong choice. I do love it and think it will be better once I go to alterations and they also assure me...xoxo!!

That dress is stunning! I had a mermaid gown for my reception and it was fine! I sat and ate, used the bathroom and danced just fine.

Wow, I am so glad to hear so many others feeling the same. I've been doing the same thing after buying the dress I fell in love with but much more expensive than I wanted to pay. It is the mermaid style too and I'm so paranoid I'll gain weight or alterations will ruin something. Reading all the posts make me feel a little better Smiley smile

It looks stunning on you! I tried on some mermaid dresses and my consultant was giving me tips on sitting down and what to do and had me try it in the store. When you go back, you can ask them and I'm sure they'll have plenty of good advice about it! It looks beautiful! You'll be okay!

Thanks girls! I can't wait to go back for fitting, I think I may even go back early just to talk with the alterations people. It's good to know I'm not alone!

First of all, that dress looks great on you! Fantastic choice!

Secondly, I am happy you posted this because I am in a somewhat similar situation. I chose a fit and flare as well. Although I am not worried about peeing, sitting, or jumping/dancing (I tried the last three in the store) I am worried about how my dress will look when it is altered. I KNOW deep down that the seamstress will make it fit like a glove, and I was sure to read a TON of reviews on my shop before purchasing from there. The biggest reason I purchased my dress from the particular store that I did, is because their seamstress has bomb reviews, but I am still worried. I am a worry wart. I think it's only normal.

My dress as it sits unaltered, I just picked it up one week ago after waiting 6 months for it to come in, is WAY too big in the hips. It's baggy and that worries me. It's also SUPER tight in the waist. The girls at the wedding shop said that was how it was supposed to fit, but because I don't wear tight things on a day to day basis, I felt odd about it. It's loose enough though that it doesn't give me back fat, hooray! The bust, is also big. The only thing we can do is wait it out, but I am SURE your dress will be amazing once it's finished. "If you love it unaltered, you're going to be obsessed with it once it is altered!" I'm quoting my friends who have had their weddings already. =)

I bought my dress last week, and I am having second thoughts. So, i'm going to try on some more dresses next week just to make sure I made the right choice and to give me a piece of mind.
