Is it bad if I don't propose to my bridesmaids?

I asked my sister to be my MOH over the phone the night I got engaged. I didn't really do an official proposal with my BP. I simply asked two BMs on the phone and asked one in person because she and I live in the same city.

My MOH kind of got a proposal text. I wouldn't classify it as an elaborate MOH proposal, though. I sent her the movie quote from the Pink Panther 2 of the proposal line she once told me I should instruct her future boyfriend to use if I approved enough of him to let him marry her, except instead of "marry me," I changed it to "be my MOH." It wasn't fancy and it certainly wasn't the type of bridesmaid proposal you see on Pinterest. But this simple text asking her to be my MOH was the most meaningful way to her that I could have asked. She just about died laughing and said it was perfect.

No because what if they want to say no? I asked all of my bridesmaid on the phone because a lot of mine where going through some life changes (new jobs, getting laid off, moving etc) and wanted to make sure they would truly be comfortable. I think it takes a lot of the pressure off.

I just called them up and asked. I will be giving each of them individual gifts as a thank you the day of wedding though.

There's really no need to propose to your bridesmaids. I took each of mine out to lunch individually and asked them. Gave us a chance to catch up too.

I think it is strange AF to "propose" to a friend when asking if they will stand by you when you get married.

    You don't have to!

If you do decide to do something cute for your other 2 bridesmaids you can still make something for specials your sister/MOH

I didn't propose. I texted my best friend right after the proposal and basically told her she was my MOH. FSIL I asked over ice cream after telling her of our engagement. My niece once her parents said yes that I could ask her I gave her a quick phone call and my brothers girlfriend I asked over the phone as well.

No. I gave my moh a small gift but it's not necessary. I kind of regretted it after and felt it was a little dumb. This is pinterest overload. It's not necessary or the norm.

Don't feel pressured to do all the extra stuff you see all over Pinterest or social media. It wasn't in my budget to get all 8 girls a proposal gift and they were all so ecstatic when I just called and asked them.

No - I was happy to say yes to being a bridesmaid for my sister-in-law when she called and asked. No proposal, no fanfare.

I'm so glad you asked this! I'm asking my maids in about a month and I've also felt pressure to "propose." But it seemed like a silly expense when I can use that $ to go toward nicer bridal party gifts at my rehearsal dinner.

I did "compromise" with myself and paid $25 for scratch off cards, though! They're cute cards from Etsy with balloons on it. You scratch the balloon and hidden underneath is "Will you be my ___?"

I plan on sending the cards in the mail Smiley smile

No around all..I didn't do that I called them up and asked them if they would like to be apart of my special day. Some ppl spend too much money on little things like this that don't matter..

No, not everyone does it. It's most certainly not required.

I was torn about this. I wanted to do a curtsy proposal. But FH just couldn't wait when I ask him too. He just blurted it out. He asked his sister for me before I even could lmao. He told my little sister That she was going to be my MOH, I have told my older sister yet. So I causally asked the rest. I asked my good friend who lives far away of ur son would be my RB and hung out with my best friend and when her daughter woke from her nap I asked them if she would be my FG. Nothing went the way I wanted. But nonetheless it's all good! Everyone said yes!

I just sent mine cards in the mail with a little note Inside about why they were special to me and why I wanted them to be a BM. I got cute cards off etsy! The front said "will you be my BM" "will you be my MOH" etc. It was simple and meaningful.

I think bridesmaid proposals are an awful innovation. They make the BMs feel like they can't say no, even if they can't afford it, don't have the time, etc. And then some time later, the bride doesn't understand why there is all the drama in the bridal party.

As far as I'm concerned, calling or asking in person is the way to go.

It can be obnoxious. I've seen bridesmaid proposal pictures and it makes me want to puke sometimes, namely when the bride to be is standing next to the girl holding up her ring. So unnecessary. Cute that you want to do something special but don't plaster obnoxious photos all over social media! I sent my closet girlfriends a card explaining what they meant to me and how I would be honored if they would stand up next to me on my wedding day. It was moot the way everything shook out, but the card was a nice middle ground between a verbal ask and an obnoxious, showy display.

I texted my girls. I wanted to do a cute proposal but wanted to put that money toward other wedding expenses!

I just asked mine in person. A lot of the "new, trendy" stuff is ridiculous. The wedding sites and pinterest make you feel guilty for not doing it, but it's just another thing to burden the bride with!
