Is anyone having an alternative to a flower girl basket?

Mrs. Turner2B, on September 7, 2010 at 1:48 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

I've seen pomadores and flower wands. Are any of you doing anything different. I can't seem to find a flower girl basket that I like so I'm wondering what else I can do.

I made my daughter a pomadore ball but she ended up not carrying anything. She was a little too fascinated with the bottom part of her dress where the pull ups were ;-)

We are toying with the idea, if we can figure out how to do it, of having our flower girl have one of those bubble guns and blow bubbles down the aisle. But they're kind of awkward looking, so that might not work.

The flower girl carries single stems (i.e., individual flowers) and gives them to people as she goes down the aisle?

Hide that in a basket and it will be super cute!

We made ribbon wands for the guests to hold/wave, and were planning to give a couple to the flower girl if we'd had one.

We aren't using a "traditional" FG basket. Our FGs will be carrying copper buckets, that will allude to our rustic elegance theme... If you want her to throw petals but can't find a "FG basket" you like, why not look at non-traditional containers and baskets?

Were kind of playing with the idea too because were on the beach and don't want to make a mess.. I know we want the flowergirl to carry a sign that says "Here comes the bride".. maybe on the basket?

The "Hand Cut Silk Petals Flower Girl Wand" is a wand that has a chain of silk flowers connected to each other on ribbons. These ribbons are attached to the wand that a flower girl can grasp onto while walking down the aisle. Ribbon bouquets are also a great alternative to a flower girl basket. Hand-tied satin ribbons shaped as flowers and crystals are so beautiful and easy to carry down the aisle. Young flower girls may also be nervous when walking down the aisle. In such cases, a white teddy bear can be used as an alternative to a flower girl basket. This provides comfort to the child and also adds a cute factor to the wedding ceremony.

Brides having beach and/or destination weddings should consider using a conch shell full of flower petals instead of a traditional flower girl basket. This unique idea blends very nicely with a beach-themed wedding and is very memorable.... http://www.ehow.com/way_5709458_flower-girl-basket-alternative.html
