Is there anyone else who is having their wedding in 2020? We’ve decided to wait until May 2020 in order to save money for the wedding. Did anyone have a long engagement? How did you go about planning your wedding?

That's awesome, Laura!! It can be tricky to pick a date when you have so many different things going on through out the year! Are you an LSU and Saints fan? Congrats on your engagement and hope the rest of planning goes well!
12/18/2020! we got engaged 12/23/2018 and have always wanted a December wedding. I have family in England and wanted to give them plenty of time to save and it honestly gives us a lot more time to save as well.
4/24/20. It seems like a long time away but time goes by fast. We are planning a nice reception without starting off with marital debt.

Got in engaged on 12/14/18 & Getting married on 9/19/20
So far we are about to put the deposit down for our ceremony/reception venue next week then go put another deposit down for the event and design wedding planner who is with the venue I really wanted to have my wedding at but they didn't have our date available but she's gonna go ahead n have her team do our wedding since our venue is only up the street. So another win win
I already got the cake taken care of (since my sister in law and her sister is making it) we will put the deposit down sometime next year for that..
I got in touch with a photographer (friend of a friend) she does really amazing photos and she gave me a quote today and it's not expensive at all so gotta put a deposit down for that asap.
So all is left is getting quotes for catering n music (they seem to book up fast too) and everything else. I start looking at wedding dresses this month too. It's exciting.
I knew I wanted a spring wedding and since we got engaged in September 2018, practically, it was going to be 2020. I was open to fall of 2019, but at just under a year out, we had very limited dates available to us. We also wanted to save for the wedding since 2018 was an expensive year with buying a house, a dog, and an engagement ring.

This is my date too and I think you should go after their wedding it would give you more time and you can go to their wedding. Date twins yay!
Ours is Feb 22, 2020 - we got engaged Oct 7, 2018 and had the dress and venuepicked out before the end of 2018, I was excited to get planning Now we are getting Save the dates together toi send out next month and I am trying to get everything done before July 4th so we can enjoy all the holidays and events that happen between July and Jan.
Hello! Congratulations! We are getting married June 20th of 2020. We’ve been engaged since May of 2018 and we wanted to wait to save more money. I also wanted to earn my bachelor’s degree first and get a job at an elementary school. Now that both have happened, I can look forward to our wedding! I’m very excited! It’s awesome to see so many 2020 brides!
We are getting married in August of 2020.. We decided that so we could save money.. I started booking vendors already so that they are paid off by the time the wedding gets here.. Like, we have our venue which includes catering and cake, officiant and DJ.. We just need florist, and photo/video. We have been engaged for a year now and together for 6 years. I'm so excited for my day to come..
We set our date for January 26, 2020 for our wedding. we got engaged December 25, 2018 and have allowed ourselves a year long engagement. we didn't want an engagement longer than that. we're paying for 95% of our wedding ourselves so we are using the time we have to our advantage. we are ahead of schedule with planning and it helps that we kept our guest list to under 90 people. i'd recommend thinking about what is most important to you about that day and what you'd want most of your budget to go towards. don't take advice from people who aren't contributing to your day and don't lose sight of what you're planning and how much of a fun time this is in your lives
Congratulations on your engagement. I got engaged October 2017 and were getting married December 2020. So we've been waiting for a whiiiiiile. lol I have been dying to start planning for about a year. I started looking at venues in January and we didn't find and book it until June. I also have already booked my day of coordinator which also includes my caterer, my linens, my chairs, and all my glassware. I know who my DJ is, my bartender, and florist but I haven't booked them, They're all family friends. My venue is just a venue. I literally have to bring everything but I preferred it that way since I can decide exactly where my money is going to.
