Is a psychic tacky?

We're having a destination wedding in Jamaica, and then having a laid back reception at home. We're having a destination wedding in Jamaica, and then having a laid back reception at home. Our venue is pretty cool, it reminds me of a dance club which is great because I'm not really a traditional bride. I am paranoid of people not having a good time though, so I keep trying to think of cool ways to entertain guests. We're already having a photo booth, and dj, but I think a psychic would be pretty cool and unique way to bring a little entertainment. I brought it up to a friend at work, and she immediately said that I shouldn't and it's tacky. I'm just wondering what you wonderful brides are thinking. Thanks!

@Beth I think you're the one whose demonic, with your crazy comments on everyone's posts (yep, went there)

I think a psychic would be sooo fun! Or palm readings and tarot cards. Those seems to be more fun and carefree than a straight-up psychic.

*Technically*, psychics are very Christian, because God created man in His image and God is all-knowing. BETH, SO THERE.

    BOOM.

I think psychics are a bunch of bull, and I wouldn't use it, but it's not "tacky." Do as you wish.

I think it would be a blast. I never had any faith in them until I had a psychic tell me exactly what ended up happening to me in the next five years. She was the real deal. I really want to hire a caricature artist. If I can squeeze it out of my budget, I'm going for it.

I went to a Christian church my whole life with my parents, and my mom reads tarot cards etc.

I don't think you need more entertainment at your wedding. And I think it's a little weird especially if they are all dresses up and look costumey with a bunch of jewels..

Do it! I don't believe in psychics, but I've been to one for entertainment. I think it would be fun and unique.

I might enjoy it somewhere, but not at a wedding.

My coworkers dragged me to one when I was pregnant with my daughter because we wanted to wait until delivery to find out the sex and they HAD to know.

It was just for fun, and I took notes to see if any of her "predictions" played out.

She was so wrong, on everything (so far). LOL

The bible also says not to mix fibers, so if you're wearing poly/cotton, strip down now.

Its not everyone's cup of tea, but personally, i love it! It's just for fun! I'd be first in line!

If you're looking for some other ideas, what about a caricature artist?

I agree that I get more of the bday party vibe from it but hey, could be fun!

I personally would not do it as I don't believe in that stuff but after a few drinks I might get a kick out of it.

I think it sounds really fun. I actually just texted one of my bridesmaids about adding that to our ideas for the bachelorette party!

I've heard of ppl doing psychics towards the end of the night to keep ppl there... You'd be surprised at how many ppl actually like psychics

OK...maybe just me, but I wouldn't go for it.

And...are you going to ensure that the psychic only gives "happy" predictions? I'd hate to be at a wedding and find out one of my loved ones is going to die soon, or my marriage wasn't destined to work out, etc.
