Invites in the Mail! When did you get your first Rsvps?

MrsD, on April 23, 2019 at 11:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 28

We did it! Invites in the mail. Our wedding is 87 days away, our RSVP date is June 10 (July 20 wedding) so guests will have around 6 weeks to RSVP after they receive the invite. We gave them the option to RSVP online or on the card included in the invite (addressed & stamped), so we tried to make it as easy as possible.

My question is, when did you start to get RSVPs? Should I expect them starting the end of next week? Or closer to the end of May?

I'm so excited!

Congrats, so exciting!! Our wedding is June 23 and our RSVP is June 1. We sent out invites around April 8th I believe and we started getting RSVP's back that same week. We have received 23/65 back so far in about 2 weeks.

We just mailed our invites Friday and have been getting texts that people started receiving them yesterday! Our wedding is July 6 with an RSVP date of June 1. Most people have texted us that they are sending them back right away - I am excited to start getting them back in the mail! I think usually you'll get a bunch right away and then it slows down and then another rush right before the deadline.

Wow! That same week?! That is so exciting. I put about 20 invites in the mail yesterday, and the remaining 81 in the mail today. They are going to 22 states (including ours, Colorado) and one other country (deployed in Afghanistan) so I'm thinking it may take until Thursday or Friday for most of them to arrive. If I start getting them as early as next week, I'll be SO happy!

Yes, I live in CT so a super small state and most of our guests are within the state so mail can travel fast which is nice! We had a few go to MA, RI, NY, and FL but mostly all local so I think that helped speed up the process. Hopefully you have guests that are diligent with RSVPs! There are so many horror stories on here about people who suck hahaha

Awesome! That's a good point, all the good RSVP guests that do it quickly, then the ones that forget until the last minute haha!

That makes sense! Yes, I'm mentally prepared for that and left myself 10 full days between our RSVP date and when we need to give our venue bar & transportation final count (exactly one month out).

I got my first one about 5 days after I sent the invites! Then it was a few here and there over the weeks. I had to reach out to about half of the people after the due date.

You'll get some before the weekend is my guess!! So exciting!! We did online rsvp's and started getting them right away.....the first couple of days, you'll get a bunch, then there will be a lull.....hate that part, and you'll find yourself checking your emails way more than you normally do - haha! Happy for you...

Crazy! I never realized people sent them that early. I usually wait 1-2 weeks to send them just to triple check we go. I'm not excited for the lull! Our guests have the option to RSVP via website or with the card we put in, so I'll be checking my email & mailbox every day haha

I put them in the mail the start of March and gave them almost 2 months to RSVP. I had online only RSVP, so I got our wedding party's RSVPs in first, then immediate family and grandparents, and slowly I got about 1-2 RSVPs per day for a week or two. Then it dropped off and people started RSVPing again at the one month mark. I'm about a week away from my deadline and I started receiving more RSVPs again. Currently have 60 yes, 7 no, and 44 have not responded.

Oh geez! Yeah I'm anticipated having to contact people, I gave myself 10 days to do in after our RSVP date. We have 101 households (224 invited) so I'm hoping as many RSVP as possible but also mentally preparing myself for the work of reaching out to 30+ households if they don't RSVP!

You will get a majority of your responses back within the first two weeks. Then people forget about it. I have had about 50/50 as far an online RSVP’s and mail backs. But they come back soon!

Wow, that fast?! Good to know about the 50/50. I am curious to see what people use more, the website or the cards.

I’m adding on to this. I also had about 5 people not receive their invite all together. Not sure what happened or why they got lost, but they did. Keep some extra Incase you need to resend some.

Ugh, bummer! Yeah, thankfully I ordered about 20 extra invites (I impulse ordered them before we had a final household count) so we for sure have extra invites.

I was wondering about this as well. I mailed invites out yesterday and we're getting married July 21, so close to yours. Our RSVP date is July 5th. We are having a small wedding of only about 25-30 people so hopefully, we will get ours back quickly. Luckily we have about 10 extra invites in case any get lost.

Yeah we have extra too! I'm not sure how I'll know if some get lost, I guess when I reach out for RSVPs? We have 220ish people invited, but only 101 households.

We started getting a few right away, but they came at an even rate up until the RSVP-by date
At least 5 (of the 32 invites sent) didnt respond, but 4/5 said they mailed their responses, so I had a vendetta against USPS for a while!

I'm excited, I hope we get some next week! Yeah it's always a sticky situation with USPS. I'm really hoping everything goes well with ours.
