Invited to Bridal Shower BUT not the Wedding

Lisa, on March 5, 2016 at 11:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I am having a discussion with my friend & she wants to throw me a shower. She is talking about inviting several people who are not invited to the wedding. I am against it, she thinks it's ok. What's proper etiquette in this situation?

Not okay. That's being gift grabby. "hey come to my party & give me a gift to pre-celebrate my marriage, but oh yeah you aren't invited to the main event."

No. Bad etiquette. I agree with pp's.

The general consensus is that people who are not invited to the wedding should not be invited to wedding-related events

Don't let her invite anyone to the shower that will not be invited to the wedding. It is one of the few wedding "rules" that is actually worth followin .

Poor etiquette. Has this happened to your friend and she thinks it's acceptable? If anyone is not invited to your wedding and still want to "shower" you with gifts, I'll assume they know how to get a hold of you.

Usually for showers the bride provides the guest list. That is the ettiquette your friend should follow.

The only people invited to my shower but not to my wedding are people that ARE invited to our celebration of marriage. Destination wedding planning has been rougher than I anticipated. I feel like an arse all the time.
