Invitations

DIY Bride, on October 8, 2019 at 1:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

I have some questions about my invitations.

I purchased my invitations from Michaels on clearance about 10 years ago. They came with the invitation, RSVP card, RSVP envelope, decorative ribbon, and the invitation envelope. I have decided that I want to print them myself so I can include the relevant information. Since I am only printing one side of the invitation and I don't have a reception card I need to keep it simple.

After our names the following information will be included:

Date and Time of Ceremony

Church Name and Address

Reception to Follow

Reception Venue Name and Address

Our wedding website

Do you think this is the appropriate information? Our ceremony and reception are at different locations. We have a few people that are older and don't have computers so we have to do printed RSVP cards.

Also, my FH thinks that the invitation needs to have the reception start time. The ceremony will end between 3:00 and 3:15. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the reception venue, and the reception begins at 4:00. We will be getting pictures while our guests are enjoying cocktail hour between 4:00 and 5:00. My FH is convinced that our guests will hang out at the church for a while (and be late) or arrive to the reception too early. I think with "reception to follow" our guests will go there and may be a few minutes early, but I wouldn't think that a few minutes early would be that big a deal.

I think when it says reception to follow that means when the wedding is over you head on over to the reception space/area/location. No time needed. Keep it moving people...lol

I think that's plenty of information. I think you can keep "Reception to Follow" especially with your website on there, I would just make sure the time is on the website. You could also have a schedule somewhere at the ceremony if your FH is still concerned about people knowing the time of the reception.

I agree with PPs. That's fairly standard wording so I wouldn't worry much about the reception to follow portion Smiley smile

Hey there! This all sounds great!

I like Emma's idea, if you FH is concerned with people knowing the time of the reception, you could totally add a schedule to your wedding website Smiley smile

How many invites are you sending out?

I sent out 83 Invitations. We invited about 165 people! My FH and I did most of them on Saturday night and I had a few more to print on Sunday. It was stressful to print my own invitations, but we both love how simple and elegant they are!
