Invitations on a budget? And alternatives?

Lalalanjgirl, on December 20, 2015 at 11:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 29

Hi All,

I am at the point where I need to start getting serious about ordering/sending out my invitations. I never did a save the date because I only booked my venue a month ago and my wedding is creeping up on me! I also never wanted to spend so much money on invitations and I was even thinking of doing them online but I'm not sure if that's a really cheap idea?

I have about 150-175 guests and I don't really like the look of invitations. I think they look like average and I'd want to do something fun and different without breaking the bank.

Has anyone found a great place to do and order invitations? Have any of you done something different from the typical paper invitation?

Thanks Smiley smile

Wait, so I'm assuming your wedding is NOT in 2017?

I am using Wedding Paper Divas. They have a really wide variety of stuff for pretty decent prices especially when they run their sales.

I don't know if you're date is incorrect, but if it is correct, you don't need to send invitations for awhile, you still have almost a year and a half. If it's 2017, I would wait until black friday comes around again, a lot of invitations go on sale. If you mean 2016, check out vista print, they tend to be a lot more affordable.

ETA: RingAroundTheRoushes I'm using them too! Also if you sign up with them you get a 20% off coupon (just received mine in the mail).

On etsy you can pay for a design ($10-$20) and then print them out yourself on fancy paper...I'm not sure how much the paper is, but I'm sure it will be cheaper then ordering fancy ones online

Vista Print and David's Bridal have reasonably priced invitations.

Remember that you only need 1 invitation per household -- not per guest. So you're only looking at 75-100 invitations.

Keep size, shape, and weight in mind so you're not paying extra postage.

A lot of brides have had success with Vista print. They can send you a sample wedding pack.

I'd suggest etsy. They have so many vendors and you can customize it all!

I got some really unique invites from davids bridal. They are seal and sends which means no additional items needed. It includes invite, reception card and RSVP all on one. Pd $153 for 100

I ordered mine through Wedding Paper Divas. I absolutely LOVED my Save the Dates, so I went with them for my invites. I live in Canada, and ordered them on the 9th I think...they sent me all the proof information, and I finalized it by last Friday (the 12?) and they will be here by the 31st. And I can't wait! I really loved the quality. Plus, I ordered a sample kit for invites, and they delivered to my door via Purolator, as opposed to sending it through Canada Post, which I thought was awesome.

ETA: They had a 30% off sale, which basically saved me the CAD/US exchange. That was nice. They do have deals, so check them out!

We sent save the dates by email, and we asked people to let us know if they wanted a paper or email invite. Most people are selecting email, so we have made a design which we'll attach for them and print out to send to the others. Of course, your invitation is the first thing that will give people an idea of what to expect, so if you are having a very formal wedding, this might not be appropriate. Ours is casual, so I think it works.

You can design an invite yourself on this website: http://guide.weddingchicks.com/15_invitation_suites.html

If you're up to DIYing, I found a great sale at AC Moore and got my invitations there. I'm going to take them a store that does printing and have them printed for me. I was able to get my 100 invitations/RSVP cards and matching thank you notes for $35. I'm using shutterfly or vistaprint to add in the other cards but haven't ordered those yet. If you do go the shutterfly/online route, I've noticed that if you put something in your cart and leave it, you'll wake up to a 40% off your cart email in the morning or the next day.

We ordered ours from Invitations by Dawn. I love them. Also check out minted, magnetstreet, weddingpaperdivas, Anns bridal bargains, and zazzle. They are have discounts regularly as does vistaprint.

We got our invitations from Vistaprint and I was very happy with the quality of the invitations for the price! Remember, they go in the trash eventually lol so I think invites are a great area of your wedding costs to go with a budget-friendly version.

Also, change your avatar-- the rings are associated with spam/trolls so it will help you get more responses!
