Invitation wording if your parents aren't hosting

Bad Wolf .., on January 8, 2013 at 11:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

What sort of wording are you using on your invitations in your parents aren't hosting? Below is our invitation and we need to figure out how to change the wording so as not to include our parents.

Any ideas?

I like the ones above where it doesn't mention anyone hosting. I don't like the idea of "if they're not paying we don't mention them" IF my parents weren't paying I would probably use "Together with their families" or one of the above that don't bother mentioning anyone.

We're going with something like the 2nd one posted above. "The honor of your presence"

This is my 2nd and FH's parents have both passed.

    Together with their parents

    Bride and Groom

Request the honor of your presence at their wedding

There are a lot of options!

Ok, I like "The honor of your presence"

It's not really about hosting, my parents don't want to be listed on the invitation because they're divorced and think the wording would be clumsy.

If their divorce is the only reason you're not listing them, google for wording because I know there are examples for every imaginable situation. Ultimately, whatever works for you will be perfect.

Typically, "the honor of your presence" is reserved for ceremonies in religious settings. "The pleasure of your company" is what's traditionally used for secular ceremonies. Ours said,

    together with their families

    Leanna Trunzo

    and

    Kevin Worrall

invite you to share in the joy

    of their wedding day

We had a secular ceremony and used "the honor of your presence" simply because I had no idea it was used for church weddings. No one said anything Smiley smile

You could use "together with their/our parents" instead if you would still like to refer to your parents.
