Intimate wedding

Adriana, on June 11, 2020 at 6:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
Does anyone have ideas of how to do a small scale wedding ceremony/reception? We want something very intimate so we are thinking of just doing close family only, around 20-25 people. I’ve been looking at venues and most require at least 50 people.

For something small like that for a reception it would make more sense to go with a restaurant that have private dining rooms

If you can consider a Sun-Thur wedding they might waive the min. I’ve been to several very cool weddings with fewer than 50 guests. Yummy good, drinks, socializing, no dancing or DJ. We had 15 guests. Same, nice dinner party was all that was needed.

Obviously not knowing where you are located this may not be helpful, but my fiancé and I are getting married in Gatlinburg, TN. There are several all-inclusive venues in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area that are perfect for small weddings. We are inviting 34 and expect 30 to attend. Our package includes up to 30 with a venue maximum of 40 (including us).
If you want more information feel free to message me.

Hey! I’m actually in NY but I’m curious what you're planning as far as ceremony/reception. I want to obviously do vows and walk down the aisle and then we are thinking of just doing appetizers and dinner after then cutting the cake. Are you doing a father-daughter dance still? I want to do something special with my dad but I don’t know if it will be weird with so few people.

We’re having 30 guests and ran into the same issues with wedding venues. We found an Airbnb that would allow us to stay, and have our ceremony on the grounds and a cafe nearby that we could have a served dinner catered. It’s actually perfect because in all honesty most wedding venues would feel too big for a wedding our size.

We are getting married at Flower Mountain Weddings (http://www.flowermountainwedding.com/). I will add that we don’t agree with all of their policies, but the location was our favorite and decided it would work for us.
There is also Bluff Mountain Inn and a few others I can’t remember off the top of my head.
By all-inclusive I mean they include venue, photographer, officiant, catering, and often decor.

We are still doing most of the usual wedding things. We have 3 children between us so our wedding party is our kids. His 17 year old daughter is my MOH and my 9 year old daughter is my Jr Bridesmaid and then his 17 year old son (yep twins) is his Best Man. The venue we are using has rooms for bride and grooms to get dressed so we will do that (just getting dressed, not hair and makeup stuff there). I am not having anyone walk me down the aisle, I’ll walk alone. We are having a reception following with heavy hors d’oeuvres and wedding cake. We will do a first dance for us, but we are not doing any other dances (father/mother dances). And then we are doing a pancake brunch the following morning for everyone.

We got married in an outdoor garden. Perhaps a backyard wedding , I really like how someone suggested an air bnb.

Maybe you could rent out an area at your local park. You usually can contact the city for your permit. You could then move everyone to a restaurant with a private dining room for your reception.

I also had a difficult time finding a venue with a guest list of 50 and under. I live in MA/Boston area so the cost of things are also higher because of the location. We had to settle for a Sunday which requires a 50 guest minimum so we are inviting a few extra people to increase our chances of reaching the minimum.

For about 25 people I would consider a backyard, park, restaurant, church, or fire hall. There are also some places that have micro wedding packages that usually go up to 25-30 people.

My fiancé and I live in Houston. We are seriously considering have a very small wedding like you. We found a small open air chapel outside of Austin (3 hours away) called Chapel Dulcinea. The chapel fits 30 people. We plan to rent a private room at a restaurant near by.

Also, we found a unique bar in our home town called Avant Garden. The owner has four packages to choose from that are all inclusive. You literally only need to hire a photographer separately. She was completely ok with accommodations for a smaller crowd.
So now we are going back and forth on what to do! I hope this gives you a couple ideas!
    Good luck!

Thank you! We definitely want to do an outdoor ceremony but maybe we will look for a private room in a nice restaurant for afterwards. Is the restaurant allowing you to decorate the tables and stuff how you want it? Or do you have to use their stuff?

We are allowed to decorate the tables ourselves. They give us extra time to do this!
