Intimate small wedding venue help

Lauren, on July 22, 2019 at 10:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
Hi! My fiance and I are in the beginning stages of planning our wedding, and I am really struggling for ideas for a venue. We want to keep our wedding very small and intimate, with a total guest list of 15, inviting only our parents, siblings, and our siblings' spouses/kids. We are looking for a venue that we can have a very small ceremony, followed by a low key dinner and drinks. The problem is, we want it to be somewhere private, quiet, and intimate. This rules out the idea of a beach wedding (where there are other beachgoers walking by) as well as several venues that initially looked promising. A backyard wedding in a private backyard would be perfect, but sadly we do not know anyone with an appropriate yard.

Any other ideas? Creative and or specific are welcome! We are open to destination, preferably west coast. Thank you!!!

I’m not sure if this is possible where you live, but we looked into renting a VRBO with a huge yard on the river in a mountain town nearby. More like a cabin with a really big yard. They said they’ve done weddings before and it was really gorgeous!

Have you checked AirBnB? You might be able to find a good yard that way.

Have you considered the private dining room of a restaurant? That's what we did. No venue rental costs; we just paid for the cost of the food and drink (although they imposed a 2% surcharge for the use of the private dining room).

Yes that is a good idea and one that I've thought about... what did you do for ceremony though?

Yes, a lot of places by us say no events... not sure how big of a deal that is. Where did you find one that allowed (region/state?)

We had the ceremony in a synagogue. But there is no reason it couldn't be in the private dining room, if that's what you wanted. You'd need a little extra room for the altar or whatever, but you should be able to negotiate that with the restaurant.

I found them in Stanley and McCall, Idaho- I used VRBO instead of AirBnB and messaged the owners separately and they were all really nice!!

I like PP suggestion of Airbnb. Now a days there's airbnbs specifically for events and weddings

Ooh, with such a small guest list you can ask about “elopement/private wedding” packages at nice hotels or resorts. Usually for a Sun-Thur wedding. They’ll include officiant, bouquet, photographer then treat your guests to a nice meal in a private room at the hotel’s restaurant.

We're having a small wedding as well - only 20 people.

We are getting married at a Bed&Breakfast - We will have the ceremony there, followed by cocktails, dinner, and dessert. We are staying there the night of the wedding, along with a few of our guests, and we will have brunch the following morning.

I love this idea! Did you find a B&B that advertizes for this type of event specifically, or just reach out to different B&Bs until you found one that would accommodate? Is the B&B also providing dinner/drinks or did you set up catering?

That's a good idea to message them seperately. I'll try looking at VRBO too.

I actually found the place just by doing a google search for "small intimate wedding venues". But during my search I noticed a few B&Bs that offer weddings and even elopement packages - so it wouldn't hurt to just reach out to a few that you like in your area. The B&B is providing everything: drinks, appetizers, dinner, dessert/small cake.
