Intimate Dinner reception of 25

Whitney, on April 15, 2021 at 4:45 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8

Hello Ladies!

First time posting My fiancé and I are having a beach ceremony followed by pictures, cocktail hour and dinner reception. Thinking of a plated course dinner, looking at a max of 20 to 25 immediate family and friends. We will have welcome gift bags when they arrive. We will be introduced with a first dance, eat, toast to finish with dad/daughter dance and cake cut. I want guest to take home things from a dessert bar as well at end of night. The reception is in a really cool private intimate room/garden area at a restaurant .

I was wondering for those of you that had small weddings how did you end or exit the night? Does this sound like a nice timeline? I was trying to think of how to flow into an exit when the evening is winding down. Is it still wise to have an MC to finish the night in a few dances. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Whitney,

We’re planning the same, around 30 guests or so. The only events that will happen may be a dance and cake cutting. I’m not sure we’ll do a grand exit or how the night will end. I imagine with it being close friends that we’ll have an after party with some cocktails somewhere.

    Our wedding was 18 guests.

We had a 2.5 hour reception and did something similar - we came in, had our first dance, had the parent dances, people ate, danced, cake cutting, and a little more dancing.

We had the DJ play a last dance song to cue our guests it was the end of the night and then did a grand exit with bubbles.

This sounds lovely! If we had to scale down, or if we’d stuck with our first thought way back when of a destination wedding, this is what I would have wanted.

You can do an exit with sparklers, bubbles, or flowers. Just make sure the venue allows this. And keep in mind on who will be cleaning it up (minus the bubbles).

Oh really? Yes I was thinking for our friends we might just do that if our parents want to head in for the night! It’s great to hear from others having a small wedding! Thanks for your input!
