Insurance and postponing fears

Laura, on March 30, 2020 at 12:04 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5
Hi beautiful brides,

Our was is “August 14, 2020” or that was what we had planned. Now we aren’t sure. All of our timelines while planning said for us to look into wedding insurance by April. We hadn’t neglected to do it but now with COVID-19 we can’t get any company to offer it. I’m wondering if anyone has been able to get Insurance? If so, from where?
Also, August brides, have you canceled or postponed yet? I really don’t want to. I’m trying to hold out...but I’m also so sad every day and don’t know what to do.
Love to you all

Our wedding was June 20 and we postponed to August 29 so I'm hoping August will be ok! I don't think you need to worry about postponing yet but if it will bring you comfort you could reach out to your venue to get information on other dates they have available just so you already have that information. Good luck!

We are August 15th and aren’t planning on making any decisions right now! I think by August it should be okay.

    Hi Laura,

I'm sorry you're having trouble finding insurance--on top of considering the possibility of postponing your August wedding. Like the other brides above, my hope is that everything will normalize by then. Fingers crossed!

Re: wedding insurance, do you have home or auto insurance by chance? This article -- How Much Does Wedding Insurance Cost -- mentions that couples should reach out to an insurance company with which they already hold a policy, if possible.

While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of August couples are waiting to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B! You also aren't alone right now! ❤️ Other August couples are discussing their COVID-19 concerns here: I need you, August 2020 brides

Plus, there are many resources on our website to help you navigate the serious decision to postpone your wedding: Our COVID-19 Weddings Advice Guide.

    Hope this helps!
