In need of a major pep talk

Opalite, on October 27, 2017 at 7:33 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

I turned 30 yesterday and it wasn't a super great day. I had work and then was in a meeting until 5:30. I did get to celebrate with FH at his parents house but I checked the weather and saw that it's going to rain most of the day Sunday. I didnt expect this to be bothering me so much because of course I can't control the weather, but my anxiety is kicking into overdrive and I'm now convinced that everything will be terrible. Even though the ceremony and reception aren't outside. I just need to snap out of it!

Sounds like you are stressed and feeling pressures all brides feel the day of their wedding... It will be a beautiful day no matter if the sun is shining or not. look at all the positives-- the most important is its a day you will cherish forever and a day a new chapter of life starts

It's my major anxiety but I have an outdoor wedding planned. We do have a plan b but absolutely we plan is based on good weather.

However, I conviced myself that if it rains, I'll embrace it and make the best of it. I remember the rain showers when I was a kid and how I loved and laughed while being soaking wet. Those memories help me calm myself. I think you should keep your mind focused on the big picture. Rain or shine you're inside and marrying your best friend. That's all that matters.

Don't be upset about celebrating your birthday only with FH and his family. Before meeting FH I celebrated many birthdays alone cause my family is far away, be grateful for the small things, when you change your way of thinking you automatically get rid of a ton of weight over your shoulders.

Nicole, none of that matters. You are marrying your bestfriend and nothing else matters but that. Most of my the things for my wedding went wrong but I didn't care, I didn't get the dress, hair, nails, shoes, make-up or decorations that I wanted for my wedding day but I brushed it off because the only thing that truly mattered is the fact that I married the man of my dreams. The wedding is one day. It's all about the marriage ... not the wedding. I hope you feel better and you have the day that will make you the happiest bride ever.

Aw it'll be great, don't worry! I know it's hard not to stress, but try to relax and enjoy these last few days. Soak it all up because after Sunday, it'll be over! You've done all the planning you can do, and at this point things like the weather are out of your hands. It's time to allow yourself to be excited and just roll with the punches. Hope you feel better and I know you'll have a great wedding day!

It rained on our day. Cold, driving, sideways rain. Everything was inside but we had planned on doing pictures at a near by nature center because as beautiful as our venue was there was no place to take outside pictures (think corner of two busy streets with strip mall behind) So we cancelled the nature. Looking back it all makes me laugh now. Had my hair and makeup done at home. Drove to venue with my mom and grandmother. Grandmom came with old lady rain bonnet to cover my hair. Mom drove her truck up the curb to the front door of the venue almost running over the DJ in the process so I didn't get wet. Photog was amazing and found some great areas for shots that the venue didn't even realize. They were amazed where she took us. Everything worked out and it was a fabulous day! Try to relax and keep things in perspective. You are marrying the love of your life and celebrating with everyone that is important to you.

At the end of the day you are leaving married to your best friend. And honestly, I've always considered rain a blessing for your wedding day.

Thanks everybody. I have fallen victim to the illusion of the "perfect day" which is funny because that's what everyone says it will be when they talk to you about your wedding. But I know that's not reality!

It will all be perfect! Unfortunately we can't control mother nature and her moods. You will get beautiful pictures despite the weather.

It too wish I just turned 30 @Celia. Smiley winking
