Korrina, on August 25, 2023 at 10:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

My alterations lady who lives in Pharump,nv was supposed to have my dress done on 07/22 but had some last-minute things and so I was able to take it back home with me to twin falls, id, and so fast forward to 09/23 and she ships it next day air, with ups, well the next day the dress hasn't moved that same day and was never delivered, and 2 days later no movement or any help from ups, I have called every number I could have and even spoke with "corporate" folks, and they did nothing and told me they could do nothing. I called the orgin store and they were very rude to me, and hung up on me, and now wont answer their phones for me, and even for their own ups cll center people. and they are the only store that can set up a cliam becasue the online portals arent working, and so i am at a lost of word on what to do , i need the dress by next friday 09.01.23, and or reinbursiment if they arent going to do anything to help resolove it then i need reinburment. if any one has any advice i would love to hear it

the dress is a galina signature from davids bridal, long sleeve, lace, aline dress, size:16 ,all ivory, and is valued at $1350

thank you in advance, and so so saddened by not only not having the dress, but the service of ups.

Next day air usually comes with insurance. Did your seamstress properly fill in the info, including the value of the item? Also, when you say it hasn’t moved for a couple days, is tracking showing that the package was picked up and scanned in, or does it say that UPS is still waiting for the package? Usually the online claim form works once the package is actually moving, which makes me wonder if your seamstress hasn’t actually dropped it off yet. You can get the shipping label, which then gets the tracking number into UPS’ system, before dropping off the package. So what exactly does the last status update say?

Also, your seamstress as the sender needs to be taking more action here. Have you talked to her yet? It’s already unacceptable that she’s over a month late in finishing your dress. If the UPS store she went to is being difficult to deal with over the phone, she’s the one who’s local and can actually go in person to talk to them. You got your dress at David’s Bridal. Was the seamstress through them or a third party? If it was through David’s, I would also be making my way up the management chain there to see what they can do to make this right.
In terms of making sure you have a dress, I am so sorry you’re in this stressful situation! I would spend this weekend going to sample sales/checking Amazon, Lulus, etc and just find whatever backup dress you’d be happy with somewhere! Once you add the veil and accessories and your excitement for the day, even if it’s not the dream dress you chose, you’ll still look absolutely beautiful on your big day!!

Hi there, the seamstress didnt fill out the form right, she didnt put the value in it, and it says ontario,CA @ 12pm 08/23 so it hasn't moved since the 08/23 when it landed in ontario,ca,

and she claims she has called and tried the claim but its not working for her, and she works so she doesnt have time to go back down to the ups. she and i use to work for Davids bridal together she was the alts. manger, but we both moved on from them, so she was doing me a favor.

I have called upper management of ups, but they tell me they cant do anything, i have been calling everyday, the latest news is they open an request for an investigation for me finally today, but they aren't open till Monday so i have to wait till monday for a call, Im trying to wait till i we make it to las vegas for our rehearsal to see whats going on, because i dont want/ have the money for me to get the dress again, but i will have to go to davids bridal anyways for a bridesmaid appointment because one of the ladies attending didn't specify that the dress she has didnt fit at all, and would just need a new dress altogether.

and thank you kindly for the kind words at the end there, much appreciated!

It probably would be best to order a dress of a different sort online. I was going to say bhldn has a sale, but those are unreturnable. Find an affordable dress as a backup but one that you could return if they find it. It could help to get the seamstress to bump into a UPS person and see if that one could check further. Hopefully that a lost dress will be reimbursed by insurance and cover the cost of an alternative one. Just make the best of whatever happens. If it does not work out perfect, it is just one of those stories you tell over and over again. Cece did a whole wedding event without the officiant arriving. They just enjoyed what they had.

The biggest challenge you have right now is that you are, for the most part, powerless to force the claim or get information from UPS on this. Only the party that paid for the shipment can make the claim, and deal with UPS. (I know this from my work - he who pays the freight cost, controls the claim). I'm sorry if your seamstress is not treating this with the sense of urgency that needs to happen.

That being said, even if she did everything right (filled out the shipping forms correctly, including the actual stated value, etc.) once the package is in UPS' hands, she cannot force the delivery to happen any faster. She cannot force UPS to find the box...and you should put Plan B into action now to secure another dress.

Keep notes...date of shipment per the seamstress, dates/calls made to her, etc. which may be useful after the fact to try and secure reimbursement for the dress (especially if she didn't provide UPS with the actual value - standard UPS insurance is only for $100. You have to state the value and pay higher freight fees for items over $100).
