I have friends, family members, and randoms saying.. "ohhh can I see your ring? Why didn't you get White gold??????" There is no awww this is nice, or it's beautiful, or I love it, or It fits you, etc.. Everyone keeps asking me why I didn't get white gold. I love yellow gold! I'm a yellow gold type of person. But when I tell them that my diamond is one carat their views change. All my friends that are engaged or married don't even have nothing close to that but they have huge white gold rings with big diamonds on their fingers.

Honestly, I think you are taking their comments wrong. You want people to gush over your ring, and you went very far outside of popular styles right now. Your ring is very unique, and not something that everyone will like. Instead of assuming they don't like it, just say that you love yellow gold and white gold isn't your style. Just say it's perfect for you.

Neither yellow gold, nor marquis diamonds are very popular- so they may have just never seen a ring like that. That's not a negative comment- it's just reality. Stop taking things negatively, and just tell people you love your ring.

I've seen girls with 1/4ct diamonds that adore their rings, and girls with 3+ct whose rings were ugly as F*ck.

OMG I LOVE your ring so much! I especially love the Marque diamond, that's what I have. I was hoping for diamonds on the side as well but I am not bitter about it. I still love my ring so much!!!

I have diamonds on my band as well.

& I am a a yellow gold person myself! All my jewlery is yellow gold.

@Meghan.. Really... lol.. I dont want anyone to "gush" over my ring.. Trust me. I don't care for popular styles if I did I would have gotten a white gold diamond ring.. If they don't like it then they don't like it but don't tell me what I should have got. it's annoying. Like I said. I loveeeee my ring.. Never had regrets.. Hell I helped picked it out and he got it without me knowing. It's just annnoyyyyingggg!

It's a gorgeous ring, just ignore people. It only matters what you think.

It's a beautiful ring, and if you love it that's all that matters! I know where you're coming from, my ring is white gold but it has a sapphire center stone with leaves on each side that each have a small diamond in them. I picked it out, I love it. I tell people I'm engaged and they say "You're not wearing your ring!" Ummm really? Do you not see this? Just because it's not a diamond doesn't mean it's not an engagement ring. The first time I heard it I thought it was just a stupid comment. Now it's downright irritating.

I've learned to ignore the negative comments about my ring, especially because it is out of the ordinary because it's got three black diamonds on it...Just ignore them, all that matters is that you love it being you have to be the one who wears it for the rest of your life you know?

    Here is my ring...

It's beautiful! Wear it with pride! All that matters is that you love it! Next time tell them "well then when you get your next ring you can get it in white gold!"

I used to wear yellow gold like when I was in middle/high school, so I can see it not being as "popular" as white gold/silver ... So you don't see yellow gold as much. I still wouldn't question it or "down" someone elses ring. I think all rings are all beautiful regardless-- it's the SYMBOLISM that what matters- not what it looks like. Ignore, ignore ... that's the best advice I can give another bride to be. Trust me, there's more unwelcomed comments coming when you're wedding planningSmiley winking

I'm not sure why anyone would want to make a rude comment about someone's engagement ring. They obviously haven't learned to keep their opinions to themselves, for the sake of being polite. What type of jewelry you wear is up to your own discretion and people should respect that. Personally, I don't think that getting into a "carat war" of whose diamond is bigger is a very polite thing to do either. Size truly doesn't matter; it's the sentiment behind it that counts. A big rock, a small rock, a yellow gold or a white gold setting--who cares? When it comes down to it, the ring is yours and means something to you. Ignore their comments or tactfully inform them that you love your ring and that's all that matters.

I completely understand. My husband didn't know that one was more popular than the other when he purchased my engagement ring. He purchased something that he loved and thought the gold and diamonds were unique compared to the others and that's why he got it. I got some comments to about the gold and my response was "I don't care I love it because it was from Jeff." That usually put people in their spot.

Frankly, whether people mean any negativity in their comments or not, why even say that?

If your friends know you like yellow gold, they shouldn't be saying that. It doesn't matter what their preference is. All that really matters is that you are happy with it. It is a very pretty ring. They are probably just jealous! Some people just can't be happy for others!

Girl, I have had the hardest time finding my wedding ring and band because I wear yelow gold and FINALLY yesterday I found her and she is beautiful! All that matters is the way you feel about it. Everyone kept trying to sell us a white gold ring but I could not see myself with one since all my jewelry is either gold or fashion accesories. Other people may not like it but I don't give a damn!!! LOL (The picture is with the clerk with it on)

I think that ring is stunning! I'm not a fan of rings that pop up too much, but that one is just flat out pretty. No doubts about it.

That ring is beautiful. I like both yellow ad white gold and wear both.I would wear and love that ring.I also think that downing someone else's engagement ring is kind of a low class thing to do. Its just rude. If they don't like it they could have just said "Aww congrats." and left it at that.

I think your ring is beautiful. though i'm partial to silver and white gold, i don't think yellow gold looks bad.

it amazes me how some people feel free to give their opinions on things that have nothing to do with them and when they are not asked.

next time someone does that, tell them they should buy you the ring they believe you should have. and make sure you remind them that you really really love your ring, so they'll have to do something over the top to compare

When somebody else ask why you didn't get white gold just tell'em..."UMMMM....DID YOU PUT A DOLLAR IN ON THIIS!?!?!?!?!?!?! OK THEN....THAT'S WHY I AIN'T GET WHITE GOLD STUPID!!!!" UGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
