Mrs. Simmons, on August 31, 2012 at 1:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

After the reception, how would I tell my guests?

If you have a DJ, you can have him/her make an announcement that the centerpieces are available to take home. That's what we are going to do...and maybe stick a card under one of the chairs (or similiar idea) that they 'won' the centerpiece.

Or you could come back here and put them up for a 'pay it forward' and the 1st bride to respond would get them at no cost. (well, except for the shipping)

    ~ happy planning

Nice add, Hayley...ours will be live (or previously live) flowers...and wouldnt be worth anything for a future bride I'm afraid. Some of the custom and DIY centerpieces, I totally agree with ya!

Announcing it or making a game of it is a nice idea.

I used free business cards from vistaprint made a card that said congrats you have won the centerpiece. If you do not wish to keep the prize, please pass this car to the person on your right. I'll have the DJ make an announcement after ER cut the cake cards will be under something. Not sure what though

At my wedding we are planning to do a raffle. before guest get there they will have a raffle ticket on their plate with a small note telling them what it is for. we also plan to give away other little things with games we plan to play. that way i dont have to pick people to give stuff away to, it will be a surprise to me as well!

We have had a lot of brides pass on their wedding 'stuff' after their wedding is over.

Vases can be expensive for a bride on a budget. So, if you were just going to give stuff away, you could always just bring them home at the end of the night and forward them on to a needy bride.

You can put pictures of them up a week before your wedding or after your honeymoon. Just title the discussion "Pay it forward" and list everything you are willing to give away.

Then people click on your profile to claim the item. You decide between the two of you who pays for the shipping.

We have had shoes, centerpieces, bouquets, garters, tulle, and even 2 wedding dresses passed to needy brides in 'pay it forward' posts.

    ~ congrats ~

I like the idea of a card under a chair at each table.

I'm not sure I am going to make something that beautiful that someone would want to take home.....can you imagine they win it and leave it. LOL

I'm going to pay it forward most of my centerpieces. I can't imagine they'd be worth anything to anyone who isn't an Alice bride, but I plan on staying around for awhile so who knows who may have another Alice wedding in the future..

We put 1 sticker on the back of a favor at each table, then made and announcement saying whoever got the sticker could take the centerpiece home at the end of the night. Worked out quite well actually!
