Ice Cream Sandwich - Any Idea How to Keep Them Cold?

Alicia, on December 29, 2017 at 3:39 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

Hey all,

We're going a little non-traditional and doing ice-cream sandwiches instead of a cake (Its-Its for any of you Northern Californians); they have a number of different flavors that we'll give people the option of. We're doing a very DIY wedding, so any suggestions on how to best serve them so that they aren't a soupy mess? I think we'll keep them in coolers until time to serve them, and could just have people pull them out of the coolers themselves, but thought I'd crowdsource any other ideas!

Thanks all! Happy New Years.

How long will they be in the coolers for? Will they be on ice? I can imagine they’ll melt some just being in the coolers so I’d leave them in there or have your caterer serve them.

I agree with PP have your caterer store them if they can

Your caterer will be able to store any items and keep them at the right temperatures. Ask if they can manage your ice cream sandwiches.

Caterers don't typically have freezers only refrigerators. You may consider renting a freezer. Alternately you could get dry ice to keep them Frozen

My venue had a freezer that the caterer used to keep ice cream in. Is that a possibility?

My brother had an empty freezer in hai garage so I borrowed it and set it up at my venue since we did ice cream cakes. I got extra tablecloths to throw over it so it wouldn't be as much of an eyesore, and had the people that would have been serving normal wedding cake serve the ice cream cake. My DOC set it out a few minutes before so it would thaw enough to cut by the time needed, but that won't be an issue w ice cream sandwiches.

You can rent an ice cream cart from a party rental company.
