Just Said Yes November 2010

I want to have a dance with my son at MY wedding.

EMMA, on September 18, 2010 at 10:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

My son is going to be nearly 19 when i get married in November 2010 and is walking me down the isle and giving me away.

I would like to have a dance with him at the reception but all the Mother & Son songs advise that i read is for a mother and her son at HIS wedding.

Please help!

I say, if you want a dance with him, have a dance with him!!.. It is your wedding, do what you want. Pick a song, tell the DJ, and make it happen!! Smiley smile

You can think of this dance as similar to a bride & father dance since your son is kind of taking the father role in the ceremony. If you also want to have a dance with your real father, you can. You can be flexible with tradition here.

I love the idea...it's so special. I think you should definitely do it. I bet there wouldn't be a dry eye in the place!

My son will be 18 when he walks me down the aisle. I plan to have a dance with him as well. I am going to let him chose the song though.

That is a beautiful idea! I got the idea of my mother walking me down the isle from another WW bride but I definitely like the idea of dancing with your son. My son is 10 years old but will be 11 and I will consider dancing with him. I think that Mariah Carey's "Hero" may be a wonderful song. We often consider our parents to be our heros but kids can be heros to parents as well. Especially for a single mother like myself. My son may be my child but he's there when I need a hug, a kiss, he'll even walk up to me and just tells me that he loves me. We talk, we play and without even knowing it, he has helped to make me the strong woman that I am today.

Is there a song that just has special meaning to the two of you, without actually being about the mother/son relationship? My DS danced with his mom to "The Rainbow Connection"; I feel like that would work for a mom and her adult son at the mom's wedding, too.

My dad and I danced to a Frank Zappa & The Mothers song, so that definitely had no association with the parent/child relationship, but it's a song that he's loved since adolescence and that he introduced me to when I was a kid, so it was a good song for us.

I am dancing with my son at our wedding he will only be 5 but he is totally into music and dancing we will be dancing to something fun that we can both bounce to the music. I say you pick something you both enjoy listening to maybe a song you both really love or something you played while he was growing up it doesn't have to be directly related to "mother and son" it will be special no matter what the song is!! I say dance with whomever you want to dance with. That goes for you too, SuchaDiva. It doesn't matter if he's seven. Dance with him anyway.

I having my son who will be 11 walk me down the aisle. My father is passed away but we didn't have a good relationship so instead I am dancing with all my kids, I have a daughter who will be 15 and our son will be 4 also. Each will have a song or a portion of a song I choose for them and our relationship. My daughter and I will be dancing to ABBA's Slipping through my fingers. Because my youngest is a surprise and so uch younger than his siblings Brad Pasiley's? Baby works. My middle son is the hardest. I probally use LeAnn Rymes I hope you dance with him but I not sure but I have over 6 months to decide. I think that is a great song to dance with either your parent or child with. Its for the outlook on life and what you do with it.
