i need some suggestions

Leia, on November 28, 2019 at 2:38 PM Posted in Michigan Planning 0 11

i need some suggestions 1i need some suggestions 2 So I got my dress at David’s bridal in Okemos, MI (outside of Lansing) I haven’t tried it on with my shapewear and shoes yet but I’m pretty sure the sides are going to have to be taken in.... I’m a size 4 and the dress I bought was a size 6. Does anyone have a general idea of where I can go to get alterations done in Lansing or surrounding areas...or even Detroit??? Not really wanting to get alterations done at a bridal salon

Have you looked on Google or Yelp so you can also see reviews? I'm not guaranteeing they will but maybe ask another bridal shop if they will do the alterations but it sounds like you don't want to go to a bridal shop at all correct? Lovely dress and I think cathedral veil works amazingly with that dress.

Lol yes. My fave meme of him. Nice to meet you ARMY. The veil was a good choice! If no one else has a suggestion I would look there. If not then maybe go with David's Bridal.

Hey Leia! Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

You look so beautiful in your dress, and think that a cathedral veil will look amazing!

Is there a particular reason that you don't want to use David's Bridal for your alterations? I would definitely start looking into tailors and seamstresses in your area. If you find some with great reviews, be sure to ask them how confident and how much experience they have working with bridal gowns.

    Hello Smiley smile

I’m a little hesitant to use David’s bridal just because I heard stories of people being ripped off or the pricing wasn’t very fair

Well you could absolutely ask for a quote from them without committing to using their services. You could then get some independent quotes from local seamstresses so you can compare and make a judgment yourself about what is the best deal that you can get! 😊

I had an excellent experience at DB both with buying my dress and the alterations. You could always see what they would charge and then see if you can get it cheaper

I got a quote and they told me $170 to take the waist up in and the hem in the front

So getting alterations done at a bridal salon (whether it's DB or another local one) can be more expensive, but that's typically because they have the most experience. My sister is a seamstress and recently started to work at a bridal salon and she said that most small alterations shops won't do wedding dresses just because altering that kind of dress is so much more complicated

Not sure where you live, but growing up we always used S & Sues in Mason across from Meijer and next to the McDonald’s there. I was a dancer and she always altered my costumes. Maybe check with her on price.
