i need inspiration for dessert table/cake!

We had dessert shots but still wanted to do a cake for cutting/pics so we picked up a one-tier cake from the bakery. Perfect for us!

As a guest, I'd prefer a fancy coffee bar and just one type of dessert: cake pop, cupcake or cake would be my preference because cake seems wedding-ish to me. But I wouldn't turn down a donut or brownie either!

I really want a dessert/cookie table but it is not in my budget. I love the inspiration of having different desserts on different stands. This picture does plates on a vase(no sure if that is sturdy)

I'm not a sweet person I like savory and spicy stuff I wish I can do a fried chicken bar lol

I think cupcakes, cheesecake, etc. are perfectly acceptable ideas! I've even seen cake balls, ice cream sundaes, and pies! As long as your dessert fits with the formality of your reception, and you think it tastes great, do whatever you want to do!!

We are doing a small cake/cupcakes/DONUTS/brownies/mini cheesecakes and cookies. I love donuts so whether or not they are the in thing didn't matter to me & out of the 3 weddings we have been to this year no one did donuts. I am setting up the dessert table the day before (without the desserts) and my caterer is setting up the rest at the reception.

I think a pretty display of cupcakes with a small cake for cutting is really nice; however, do your research on the costs to make sure it will actually save you $ compared with the $1.50 pp cake cutting fee. There might be costs for setting up a cupcake display (and possibly for renting the display stand(s) themselves). Depending on how many cupcakes you're talking about, it can be fairly time consuming to set them all up. (This is also NOT likely an "easy job" you can just assign to a friend or family member -- it will take time, and can't be done too early -- so it means they are scrambling at the last minute and/or missing cocktail hour, etc.) Gather the necessary info and weigh the pros & cons.

I don't have a picture, but we are doing a dessert bar. We will have a really small cutting cake for pictures on a simple wood cake stand, then mini cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and cake pops all on different level wood stands! I'm thinking about getting some signs too that say "life is sweet" and stuff like that to put around it. I'm also leaning towards those super sparkly gold tablecloths!
