DIY is not cheap because you have to factor your time at minimum wage per hour plus your sanity. Not everyone has the skills or patience.

I knew going in that I have zero skills to diy and true decorations cost an arm and both legs to purchase for just a few hours and heck I wouldn't have any use or space for the decor after the wedding except my bouquet, so I hired a decorator to decorate both the church and reception area at the church. I'd saved $$ in other areas by designing/printing my own invites the gist of my diying (which everyone thought were professionally done and got a great deal on my cake done by nothing bundt cakes.com which I found here on WW and included buntinis as my favors... absolutely not a crumb was wasted) I'm in Florida and spent about $700 for her and that included the tip. I gave her my vision which was simply clean classy lines and no gigantic centerpieces as I didn't want guest craning there neck to chat across the table...she delivered. She setup, then returned to break it all down. Tip if you decide this route of renting a decorator, check their work beforehand. All decorators are not alike. I considered many areas in the type of decorator I was looking for...for instance if the only pictures they had were kiddie birthday parties, they didn't make the cut.

Our centerpieces will be similar to this! Fairly simple to diy. Just some candles, a tall vase, and cheaper fake florals! Some people add water to the vases and a floating candle. Easy Smiley smile

Again like I stated I don’t want to hire a decorator. I don’t mind having the decor after we are only having 50 people max. I was asking for ideas! But thanks

I did my own centerpieces and just asked the florist to add the greenery. I made my own table numbers and all of my signs. Just keep things simple.

Pinterest has been my go to for any wedding inspiration ideas. Hobby Lobby has a great selection of fake flowers.

DOLLAR TREE CANDLES AND CANDLE HOLDERS! I know exactly what you mean about decor company pricing! My decor company is charging us an exorbitant amount for certain things, so we are DIY and almost everything else that doesn’t require a ladder. We are also DIYing and floral and ordering it from 50flowers.com. Also check out HOMEGOODS!!!! Home goods has saved us literally thousands of dollars finding things and doing it ourselves versus having the decor company do it! Below we got about over 20 large vases that we are going to scatter around the place and they cost around 15 bucks apiece. We also have tall pampas That grow in large vast wild amounts here That we plan on scavenging a couple of days before. They stay in almost any weather condition for a long time so there’s no maintenance and we’re going to put them in the jugs below as seen in the below picture.
Reading some of the other posts I never understand why people can’t just answer a direct question LOL and I agree with you 100% the decor company is not in any way close to being the same amount of money as DIY.

Also, to do your Arch This set up is only 34 bucks! I know my Decor company was going to charge us 700-800 Just for something simple like this. So you could get that $34 stand and then buy cheap/beautiful different colored draping to layer over it. You could even get the fabric at a Joann fabrics or a fabric store and save even more money. Hope this helps

Do you have a friend or family member who owns a business? (aka has a Tax ID number)

do a quick google search for "florist supply store". you can make an account with them with a Tax ID number and by things like vases, greenery, even flowers SUPER cheap. these are the people that supply the florists, so you are shopping at cost.

I ordered all my centerpiece greenery and moss from one.

another option is find a local farmer who may grow flowers (or even a florist) and order DIY buckets.

antique stores or second hand/Salvation Army store have been my DIY savor. So far I have made:

-centerpieces/table numbers - bunting flags - painted vases for flowers - lawn games (giant Yahtzee, jenga, corn hole, and twister) - card box - I got all my glassware at second hand shops.

our budget is only $10k all in, so our decor budget is under $1k and we are totally making it work. you got this!

Pinterest is great. I'd suggest Micheal's or JoAnn's if you decide to use artificial flowers. Hobby Lobby's are all really obviously fake looking in my experience.

What is your wedding style? Is it rustic, simple, glamorous...? What is your budget? Diy can save you money but it can still get very expensive. Where is the wedding being held? Is it indoors or outdoors? Will you have the ability to set up the day before and/or people to help you decorate the space with all of your diys? There is a lot that needs to go into decor logistically besides just planning and making the decor. For example, if you are diying florals where will you store them (they need to be refrigerated) and when will you make them so that they are done beforehand but not so early that they wilt. Will the venue allow you to set-up the day before, and is that something you will have time to do? I'm not trying to discourage you, I think it's great that you are planning to do lots of diy. We just need more info in order to give suggestions that will work for you.

We had butterflies and a little bit of Disney. We made our lantern centerpieces with wood rounds and ordered some custom items on etsy and amazon.
