I Need Help Visualizing!!

Caitlin, on November 20, 2015 at 3:26 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

First you need to know that our wedding colors are Navy and Gold with slight accents of a sliver/gray. When I first started planning I decided I wanted my Maids to wear a floor, length Navy Blue dress with gold jewelry, shoes, and lots of gold in their bouquets. My Fiance wanted to wear a grey suit and I was okay with it until I did my research and I found navy suits/tuxes. I LOVE them and I convinced him to love them too.

I can't decide what is going to look okay together and I am a very visual person.

Here's my options:

Men: Navy suits/tuxes with gold accents (ties, vests, cummerbunds, etc)

Women: Navy dresses with gold accents (jewelry, shoes, flowers, etc)

Men: Same as above, but with the groom in a grey tux with navy blue accents

Women: Same as above

Men: Grey Suits, Navy accents.

Women: Navy dresses, gold accents.

Men: Navy Suits, gold accents.

Women: Gold dresses, navy accents.

Anything I'm forgetting or not seeing??

My brother recently got married and they wore grey tuxes with navy accents (my brother had a navy vest and pocket square, the groomsmen had grey vests with navy pocket squares). The bridesmaids wore long navy dresses. It looked lovely together.

My only concern with everyone in navy is that the navys may not exactly match each other b/c they'll be in different fabrics (I'm assuming).

I think I like the last option best, mostly because I like it when the BM dresses contrast against the GM suits. If you do navy for both, will you be able to match them? If they are different shades of navy, will that bother you?

Color twins! No joke, exact same colors!

I'm doing option #3, except with silver jewelry.

Have you looked at any inspiration pictures on Pinterest? That's where I came up with a lot of ideas. To be honest, I'd steer away from navy dresses AND navy suits--that's a lot of navy.

@Caitlin - Welcome to the WeddingWire Community! Smiley smile

I love navy dresses with grey suits - the contrast is gorgeous. And I'd stick with gold jewelry/accents for the girls, and then tie the navy in with accents for the guys.

The accents aren't the same in these pictures, but you can see how well the main colors go together!

Thanks for all the responses already! Would it be weird to do the gray suits even though we won't be having much silver/gray in our wedding colors?

We are also doing navy, but with silver and pink accents. I thought about navy suits/tuxes with navy bridesmaids dresses but thought it was way too much navy. So gray tuxes with navy ties, and navy dresses, silver shoes. Another vote for option #3!

No, I don't think it's weird. The only other place we have any gray at all is in our stationery.

Lol were doing the same colors, and I have a mishmash of your options

groom in navy blue, GM in black/navy blue*haven't decided yet)

MOH and Matron OH in Gold dresses, BM in navy blue dresses, gold accents.

Honestly, I think either of the options would look good

I just wanted to update you all, that I found these suits with the navy tops and the tan bottoms at the Bridal Fair my town hosted recently, and I am in LOVE! It's our wedding colors almost to a "T" and it allows my bridesmaids to still wear navy dresses but with gold accents and not be overwhelming. Also, my MOH and I have decided that she will wear a gold dress to separate her from the rest of the maids. Thanks for all the ideas, ladies!!

These are exactly my colors! Navy, gold(champagne, and rose gold too), grey (silver and pewter too). I had a hard time deciding too, but the more I read blogs and looked at pintrest the more i found that if you choose main colors and used accents of those colors as your color spectrum you have a lot more wiggle room! We don't want things to look too traditional but we still want formal, so our girls are wearing a range of the shades in sequins, navy, champagne, pewter, and gold, and the guys are wearing grey suits. My Fiancee however is wearing a blue tuxedo.
