I need help! I can't find the shade of purple I want in bridesmaids dresses...

Myriah, on June 1, 2012 at 12:00 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

That's a lie, I did find it...at Nordstroms for $160. Every bridal salon I look at, their shades of purple are not at all what I want. Oh, and...even if I find one dress in the perfect color that doesn't matter. I have 8 bridesmaids and all of them have different body types. Not one the same. Any suggestions would be greaattllyyy appreciated. I attached a picture of my dream color.

That is a BEAUTIFUL color! and it is your wedding, so it should be exactly how you want it to be! i just want to share with you that i was soooo picky with the colors for my wedding that i'm finding it hard to find coordinating things for it! i based the whole wedding on the coral color at db, and now all my decor is every shade of pink that you can imagine! my wedding will probably look like peptobismal was thrown up everywhere:/

just thought i would share! Smiley smile

Hey there, have u checked David's bridal online??... That color looks like something they carry (I bought a few shades darker, so I remember the purples, lol) U can shop by color online and then have it show u the dresses that come in that particular shade! Good Luck! :-)

That is a beautiful dress! I don't know what your other colors are but weddingchicks.com has free printables and other templates. They have this beautiful purple, green, and teal heart monogram that is absolutely free to make and use.

    Here's the link:

    Where have you looked?

Dessy has a ton of colors....

"African violet" looks close in hue, but a bit darker.

    tulip is also similar.

Maybe your bridesmaids can wear different shades of purple?

Check out www.dessy.com? I found a color that isn't EXACTLY the same but it's pretty damn close in Orchid Purple. Other than that, your options would probably be either DB or having someone make the dresses - which will probably be the only way you'll get to ensure that not only will you have the exact color you are looking for but that the dress is in designs that are flattering for all of your girls. Wish you luck

Jessica B. : I actually just finished browsing through DB's website, I did find the same name of the shade shown above but it is a tad duller. I'll make an appt tomorrow for next week to check it out. Thanks for the advice!

Audra E. : I was thinking about purple/green/teal! How'd you know. I do love this! Thank you! I am so new to all of this, I'm literally learning as I go. I've never been to weddingchicks but it seems interesting. It's 1am and I have to work at 9, my wedding is making me miss my bed time! Thanks again for all of the advice ladies, goodnight!

I haven't looked at dessy but will definitelty check out all of the shades mentioned when I get home from work. Thank you for the suggestions! I have thought of different shades of purple, but the shades ive seen in local bridal salons just arent cutting it for me. I will have 8 bridesmaids, just seems like picking a different shade for everyone would be added stress that I dont need. I have a 4 year old, and my mama just recently moved away so not having her near me really bites. I feel like I have no idea what im doing but im learning as I go. ill get through this! Haha

If you did choose to do different shades, you could have two girls in each color. So four shades total. I had a problem getting the colors I wanted and ended up doing blue and brown, with MOH in a darker shade of blue because she was a different shape and couldnt get her in the color I picked for everyone else!
