i need advice on ceremony decorations

Megan Thompson, on March 8, 2021 at 11:34 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12
Hey yall! I need a bit of advice. I think I'm being overly OCD about ceremony decor matching the church but idk. My thing is, our wedding colors are Lavender, Navy blue, Light blue and white. The girls are wearing a light purple/lavendar colored dress, the guys are wearing navy suits, white shirts and sky-blue ties and pocket squares. The bouquets flowers are sky-blue and white delphinium. So I ordered a bunch of sola wood flowers to make a bunch of arrangements for the church and I planned to dye them different shades of light purple, blue and white then mix in some fillers like greenery and babies breathe. What's really getting me is that the colors of the Church (mostly the dark red carpet) don't really match our colors. I know, I know, I legitimately am OCD about things matching and colors ect. But idk should I do? Should I just make the flowers mostly white and cream colors to match the church or still have the colored flowers? I've attached a few pics to give everyone an idea of exactly what I'm talking about. i need advice on ceremony decorations 1

I think your colors are beautiful, and I think one best way to really incorporate your theme into the church is to just go ham with florals.

So are you saying if I have tons of flowers in our colors in the decor than that will bring our colors too the church so no need to worry about them not matching?

I think your colors will look just fine in that setting. No one is going to be paying much attention to the church carpet 😀

Essentially, I think its a good way to lighten up the church's dark exterioe. I wouldn't focus on whether or not your theme matches the church, its about how you could incorporate your theme to the ceremony and reception space.

Thank you ❤ I assumed I'm being overly OCD, because I legitimately do get that way about things matching and decor going together but I thought I'd ask any way 😊

OK, I get what your saying and it honestly makes sense. I didn't think of it that way. The reception space I don't have to worry about because it's a beautiful ballroom that's mostly neutral colors like beige and white..it was that dang red carpet that was bugging me the most lol

I would do your planned colors! The only thing that doesn't seem to match is the carpet, you could always buy a runner or some sort of drapery to cover it.

I wouldn’t worry about the red. Everything will look fine together. Those stained glass windows are beautiful!
I do want to add, did you check with your church about the sola wood flowers? I know mine didn’t allow any fake flowers. I just don’t want you to run Into any issues.

Hi!! I think your colors are perfect with the stained glass windows! A navy or white aisle runner on top would work to minimize the red (double check with the church as they may have rules surrounding this). Florals to frame the alter, like two tall vases could distract from the carpet and pull the eyes to the altar as a focal point.

In the case that you have to keep it how it is - the red carpet is very royal looking and even Kate Middleton had a red carpet for her wedding 😉💜🌷

I would stick with your original colors. The only picture that the floor showed up in is the one that you took of just the floor.

Katie, Thank you so much! I love the stained glass windows they're gorgeous, I am going to ask about an aisle runner, I think that's a perfect idea. And thanks for the thought on the carpet looking royal, that made me smile 😃
