I hate white dresses

KM, on October 16, 2013 at 2:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40

The more I look at wedding dresses, the more I hate white. And especially dresses with corsets and boning. I don't care if the person in the dress is a size 2 or a 20, they all just looking like stiff white marshmallows. I'm going to have a hard time with this one...

Then DON'T get a white dress! My sister wore a gold gown. It was a prom dress I think, but complete with matching veil she looked like a bride.

And there are some FABULOUS blush gowns. I love my white dress, of course it's not traditional really, but I saw a blush one at a bridal salon that took my breath away. Think outside the box and you'll find something you love!

If you still want a true "wedding gown", there are a ton of gowns that are made in champagne/blush/rum pink, and even some in pale blue.

So what sort of dress do you want?

I saw lots of non-corset dresses when I was looking. I think it would be easy to find something without a corset.

And color seems to be "in" for bridal right now, though most designers seem to still be keeping it subtle. I feel like I've noticed a lot of color, and a lot of lace on dresses when I went looking with my sister recently.

My mom had a GORGEOUS gold dress. Why don't you try the formal departments at normal stores?

I hate corsets! I think they make the skinniest of people have back fat. Try on the white, but try on other colors too.

I'm not wearing a white dress. It's just not what I wanted. Funny you mentioned marshmallows. I felt like a cupcake in traditional wedding gowns.

Agree -- Try on the white before you dismiss it (bc you never know) but don't be afraid to think outside the box either!

I'm not a fan of corsets either. there are so many different styles of wedding dresses out there i'm sure you'll find something that you love.

even then, like what the other girls are saying, it doesn't have to be white. barely there color in wedding dresses is TOTALLY in right now. there's plenty of different shades of blush pink, grey, etc... Or yeah, go the evening gown route and ditch the wedding dress idea totally.

it's your day, your wedding. you can wear whatever you love!

I LOVE the idea of blush or a light tan, but gold is out. FH family is already having a hard time with the fact that he is marrying a girl who is part Spanish and gold makes me look REALLY Spanish lol

Your options aren't many but you can find pink, gold, grayish color wedding gowns. I didn't want white either. I'm a pink girl so my wedding dress is pink. And it's beautiful. Mori Lee 4902

Blush was a very, very common color in dresses launched this fall. I think you'll be surprised with your selection.

I'm going for navy blue. Wear something that works for you! I recommend looking at evening gowns (I'm looking at a Jovani one).

Honestly, if you already know you don't want to wear white, don't feel like you have to try it on and "prove" you don't want to wear it. I mean, I know I don't want to wear orange ... not gonna try it on to prove it.

Lol Pezzy I like the way you think. I'll probably try a few to make my mom happy. It's not just the white I hate, it's the type of dress that doesn't move. Seriously, half the wedding shows I watch has a bride in a dress that looks like plaster on the bride. She's moving, the dress isn't. It's so strange to me. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
