I hate white dresses

The more I look at wedding dresses, the more I hate white. And especially dresses with corsets and boning. I don't care if the person in the dress is a size 2 or a 20, they all just looking like stiff white marshmallows. I'm going to have a hard time with this one...

Sadly, I don't have any pictures. She had her friends mom, who was supposedly a professional photographer, take pictures and they're all very crappy. She got a gold prom dress, and then found gold tulle and made her own simple fingertip length veil. It wasn't a very like, in your face gold, but it was still shimmery.

KristenMichelle - Totally get what you're saying! I especially love it when the top of the dress doesn't move but the bride is. Or the dress just hovers around her boobs. So weird.

Lol okay then I'm not crazy. I can't wait to try on dresses and tell my consultant "Find me a non-white dress that moves within my budget". I'm going to get laughed at.

I'm wearing silver & purple. I'm pretty white, white clothes just make me look paler.

I wanted a black gown, couldn't find one I loved and ended up purchasing a white gown, but I'm adding a black sash to it to have it feel more like "me".

I say wear a gown in a color that you love. I know you're kinda against the idea of gold, but a champagne color would look lovely on you and its a nod toward white.

@The Centerpiece Flowers: I actually am surprised I fell in love with one of their dresses! Back when I was in high school, my friends and I got a copy of the Seventeen Magazine prom issue and used to make fun of the Jovani dresses. Now, although there's plenty of dresses they make that I think are a little ridiculous (like most of the shorter dresses), I've found a LOT of dresses that I love! Only one that I really love that's in navy blue, but even so--I'm glad I gave them another chance!

White and ivory totally washes me right out, so I got light gold and I am in love. Smiley smile

I tried on a few blush dresses. It is one of my favorite colors to wear because it compliments my alabaster skin. Unfortunately I didn't find a blush gown in the cut I was looking for, but the dress I bought is Oyster (a greyish-tan) and Ivory. It's gorgeous!Definitely try on one or two white or off-white gowns before you swear it off completely. I am not a fan of corset backs either. I did try on one just to make sure I hated them. I loved the shape they gave me, but as soon as I turned around, I couldn't get over the lace up back. YUCK! Not for me. My advice would be to just try on a few different styles before you rule them out completely. You just never know.

Since fashion week is reporting that pink and blush is the hot trend for 2014- sounds like you're covered.

Just thought I'd mention that fabric/dress movement has nothing to do with colour, and that seems to be your main issue that has come up. (I have nothing against colour wedding dresses, I love colour) So be aware that there are very flowing white gowns, and try and get a more specific idea of what you're looking for.
