I cant stand the sound of tapping on the glass to watch the bride and groom mack it. I have decided to place a peice of chewing gum on each plate and ave the DJ explain that if you really want to see us kiss you need to show me an impressive bubble!! I've heard of couples making people hulo hoop and sing a song. Does anyone have any other ideas for something else to do?!?!

OMG at that picture Victoria, lol

I hate* that too, we're not doing any alternative but we plan to have our dj tell everyone that it's not allowed and if anyone is caught doing it, they will have to get up and kiss whoever's next to them.

I agree with Kelly K. It's usually only when you first walk in during dinner and eventually it wears down because folks get into their conversations and eating. I have yet to be to a wedding (have probably attended 25 in my life) and there has yet to be a time where I thought people went overboard with it.

Why not FLIP IT on them? if they tap the glasses... the DJ hands you the mic and you get to choose a couple (or a table) to kiss one another. It never fails.. they don't do it more than twice after that. Unless they REALLY like to kiss each other. It's also good for a laugh if you do it for a table where there's a couple of single guys... The faces the make when they realize they're "supposed" to kiss another dude...

WHile I hate the sound of glass clinking or bells ringing, there is only one day to do this, and I will enjoy every minute of it(not doing bells though). Besides, after a while, the guests stop any way as they are too busy drinking and dancing.

We are doing a donation jar as well. I work at a homeless shelter so if people want us to kiss they have to make a donation to the shelter.

OMG!!!... I love this idea, Victoria.

I think I'm going to use this idea at my reception. It seems like a fun way to get everyone involved in the smooching so that FH & I aren't the only ones swapping spit in the building.

I think we'll pull a name everytime we hear a bell ring...No Glass Tapping though.

We had like 100 guests at our wedding. We didn't know about the clinking of the glasses and the first time they did it, it took like half the guests to do it and then someone had to tell us what to do...lol. It only happened like maybe 5 more times if that. People got too busy having a fun time like Carole said. Plus it's only one day let it be FUN!!!

I hate the sound of it too that's why I'm gonna get bells and if they really wanna see us kiss it'll be better than listening to glasses clinking...

I suspect that if the DJ made an announcement, people would see it as a game and start tapping away.

This is a new one on me, I don't remember it happening at any wedding I've been too. It would annoying the crap out of me and seriously interfere with my drinking Smiley winking

We are getting married at a golf and country club,

FH is a huge golf fanatic.

I personally don't like the clinging of the glasses,

So we have done is designed a Miniature golf hole,

The guests must come up and if they get a hole in one, we the bride and groom shall kiss................ The level of difficulty is quite high as we would like to enjoy our dinner. Grins.

We haven't decided on what we want the guests to do in lieu of the glass tapping. At other weddings I have been to they made the guests go to the mic and sing a song with the word "love" in the title, another wedding the guests had to quote a line from Romeo and Juliet, another had the guests stand up and kiss their partner the way they wanted the bride and groom to kiss. All cute ideas.

There is the bell, which doubles as cheap favors.. i heard of a putting green and they have to make it in the hole for the couple to kiss.

I've also heard of the trivia game. A guest pulls a question out of a bowl/hat/etc and if answered correctly, B&G will kiss. If incorrectly, he will have to kiss person of B&G choosing!
