I had to fire a bridesmaid yesterday....or, politely ask her to resign, I should say. It was a giant accumulation of things that led me to ultimately feel like I didn't want her in my bridal party. I had to fire a bridesmaid yesterday....or, politely ask her to resign, I should say. It was a giant accumulation of things that led me to ultimately feel like I didn't want her in my bridal party. It was by no means an easy decision and it took me several months of getting upset and being stressed out and having hurt feelings to decide that it needed to be done. We will call her "A".

She couldn't commit to what I was expecting of her as a bridesmaid (attending bridal showers, bachelorette party, paying to have her hair done, having manicures/pedicures, etc.). She felt that I was asking too much of her, both financially and of her valuable time. My mother bought their dresses, I paid for their jewelry as their bridesmaid gift, and I was allowing them to all wear nude (or similar shades) of shoes that they already owned instead of having them all purchase the same shoes....continued in comments

I love it when brides make comments about how nothing could ruin their special day because it's so special and all about their love, blah, blah, blah.

I'm learning you don't know what you'll encounter until you're up against it and sometimes the worst experiences will come from people you thought you could count on and had known almost your entire life. Kudos to you for having the strength to let her go. It's hard when you're trying to be accommodating, you're feeling guilty because you're asking so much of them but you realize when someone is making things difficult. This is you need their support the most. The role of Bridesmaid or Maid of Honor should be reserved for that friend or relative you have love for, can rely on and trust. If they agree, they should offer you no less than their full support. I guess I'm giving myself a pep talk since I'm dealing with bridesmaid issues too and it's very disappointing. But at the end of the day, if someone you thought had love for you is hurting you intentionally, and not assisting in making your special day and the days leading up to it just that, special, then guess what: you don't need them on your team.

Dealing with this right now asked a college friend to be my bridesmaid barely starting the wedding process and she is being a thorn in my side about everything and before I even asked I took her out just her and I to talk and make sure she was okay with an out of town wedding and everything. I know part of the problem is her bf is non commitial so she's jealous but does she need to be a bridesmaidzilla?
