i got my dress today... and my mom hates it.

My mom despises my dress so much, she didn't even want me to sign for it and take it home.

She says it's too "boobie" and is way too low cut, too tight, and overall "unflattering and way, way too revealing for a wedding." She saw a picture of the dress before I ordered it, and I don't understand where the outrage is coming from.

I am 100% IN LOVE with this dress, but now I don't even want to look at it. I drove home in tears. The top part of the dress (bodysuit) has been discontinued, so I cannot order lace to add to it (which I didn't really want to do anyways). If I alter it, the lace will look different.

I need honest opinions please. Too revealing? Or is it okay as is?

It’s beautiful. The day is about you. Its YOUR dress not your mom’s. Tell her that if the dress of your dreams is not to her liking then too bad deal with it or don’t bother to come. It is YOUR day YOUR dress.

You are beautiful, and that gown is gorgeous! Your mom is just from a different time & does not understand the current trends in bridal. I know it's hard, because she's your mom, and it's hard to not have her in your corner. It sucks she doesn't like it, but it sucks more that she made you feel so bad about it
The fact that she didn't want you to sign for it makes it seem like your mom thinks that choosing a different dress is an option here. Do you think you would regret not wearing this dress that you love on your wedding day? If so, you may just need to put your foot down like, "I love you and respect your opinion, but it bears no weight on my final decision. It's my wedding day, it's my dress, and it isn't going anywhere. I hope you can still manage to enjoy my wedding despite our different tastes in fashion." ya know... or something like that.
Maybe on the big day, when you are all done up with hair, makeup, accessories, veil, and a big 'ol "its my wedding day" smile, she might see it in a different light. You could even get a pretty coverup of some sort, like a cardigan or capelet or something, not to wear the whole time, just to have your photographer snap a few photos of you "covered up" for your mom.

Your dress looks amazing on you and definitely not revealing by any means. I can't wrap my head around your mom's hating on it at all. She'll get used to it and even if she can't, I'm pretty sure she'll absolutely be the ONLY one who doesn't think this dress looks gorgeous on you!

Maybe Mom was being old fashioned...
This dress is beautiful!!! So are you. This is YOUR wedding so unless mom bought this dress.. she has no say so. Don't regret the dress baby! 😘

I am pretty conservative and I think that looks great! I could see if you had a bigger chest and things were showing more but that dress looks great on you!

There is a line between classy-sexy and too sexy and this dress is so far away from that line that you can’t even see the “too sexy” side! I think it looks gorgeous on you! Some people are just more conservative than others when it comes to things like that, but at the end of the day, it’s your dress, your wedding, your feelings, and your memories. Let mom protest; she will still love you congrats on finding “the one”!

Oh my goodness. You look stunning. I completely disagree with your mother, it is very flattering and beautiful. You can't please everybody. It's your day and you have to go with the dress that you want. It's hard when it's your mother telling you an opinion you don't want to hear. I would talk to your mom and tell her that she upset you and hurt your feelings. Explain to her how much you love the dress. It really is beautiful.

I think that dress is gorgeous and fits you perfectly! It's not like you're spilling out of it. I think even with the low cut it's very tasteful. Honestly, I think a lot of moms think that way about lower cut dresses. Just because it's not her style doesn't mean it's not perfect for you!

I’m sorry that your mom wasn’t in love with your dress - I know how hurtful that can be. You look STUNNING though. It’s probably just not what your mom pictured for you, but honestly - it’s perfect. And if you’re in love with it, that is all ALL that matters. 💕

The dress is gorgeous and you look great in it. You mentioned that see saw a pic of the dress before you ordered, I'm guessing you didn't go dress shopping together. If not, she just might be feeling some type of way about it. If you're close, maybe try to include her in another big decision. Keep the dress though, it's great!!!

It's not too revealing at all! I understand though how one negative opinion, especially an important one like your mothers, can turn you off. I think the lace and overall top part of your dress is stunning and I definitely am on the conservative side with cleavage, so no clue what your Moms issue is. Just try and remember why you loved it and that it's just one person opinion...everyones taste is different...and try not let it get to you.
