Just Said Yes September 2020

i don’t want to change my wedding date for the fourth time...

We have already changed our date 3 times due to venue construction... our current set date is now September 12th. A second wave is predicted to come in the fall meaning we will most likely still be in self isolation... my fiancé and I have now almost been engaged for a year and we REALLY just want to be married already! We are thinking of doing a private ceremony very soon with family. We would like to invite 12 people... is that too many? We will also still have a celebration at the venue on a later date but I just don’t want to risk not being able to get married then. I’d rather get married now and party later. What do y’all think?

It is recommended that you have no more than ten so I would say twelve is too many especially if that number doesn't include you, your fiance and your officiant.

I have the same date as you and I have no plans to change my date. We have no idea what it's going to be like in September. From what I have been hearing on the news and from Dr. Fauci is that things are going to start to level off in the next 2 weeks but the next 2 will be bad. He also indicated (if I'm understanding it correctly) that the virus will be more like the flu and could become seasonal. Either way the virus is here to stay. Right now getting through the next few weeks is what is important as far as the virus is concerned. They are continuing to work on treatments and vaccines for the virus. While the virus may come back, I don't think we will have another stay at home order because now medical professionals know what to expect. I have a ton of faith that things will get better. I'm super excited for my date and can't wait!

This makes me optimistic for our August 30th date!! Plus, your faith and enthusiasm are contagious 😍 Thank you for brightening my day with your response!! I also agree that while these two weeks will be the worst, we should start to see improvement come around end of May. That gives us some breathing room for us fall brides!! And if you’re located in an area where it gets hot in August and September, there’s a good chance you’ll be okay as flu season really takes place November/December!

Our new date is September 13th and I’m not super worried about it. And it will still technically be summer! I do believe that there could be a second wave, but thinking that might be November. But also who knows what’s going to happen even next week. So I wouldn’t make a decision about September until at least July.

We are in a similar position. Our wedding is the beginning of November and we are thinking about postponing to 2021. We have been engaged a year and a half already, and decided we would rather just get married now (just the 2 of us at the courthouse), then have our big celebration next year, when people will (hopefully) feel comfortable flying/traveling and being in large groups again. We thought this would also prevent people from not being able to come to the wedding due to finances after not being employed during this pandemic for so long. Unfortunately, after we had made the decision to just get married at the courthouse, we realized government buildings are shut down. Meaning, we cannot get a marriage license. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Oh your welcome! I feel right now it's best to be as positive as possible. I look at this time as time I get to spend more quality time with my FH and it really has made me slow down and just enjoy the small things with him. We all just need to have patience right now and hope for the best; try to push the negative thoughts out. I also think that even though things aren't good so to speak, even the morning news is sounding more positive about the situation then what it was a week or so ago.

Check with your county because I also thought my county courthouses were shut down but when I read more closely it didn’t say the office was closed it said Closed To The Public. My county courthouse is accepting emails and marriage license requests online and will mail out the marriage licenses.

I just emailed them today to see if I can get some kind of extension on our license or if the fee can be waived if we file for another one.
