I don't want a stupid cake.

Sorry. This is me venting it out. I don't want a wedding cake.

I've never been a big fan of cakes. My favorite desserts would be cookies, fruit tarts or pie. Our wedding already is having a massive amount of food and our tasting was seriously off the chain. We are serving 5 butlered hors d'oeuvres, having one antipasti station and one Philly pretzel station, and then serving salad and entrees. For dessert, we guests will be given warm cookies and a shot glass with chocolate milk shake since our wedding falls on National Milk Shake day. Also, we are having 2 full service bars and one signature bar whipping up mojitos.

My mom is telling me that we have to have a wedding cake. I just feel like we're having so much that nobody is going to miss it. I just feel like it will be such a waste. Nobody is going to NEED cake. As far as cookies go, we're serving chocolate chip, snickerdoodles and double chocolate chip. Is anyone else not doing a cake??

One of the weddings that I went to did a dutch oven cobbler instead of cake. it fit really well with the rustic theme of the wedding and it tasted awesome!

OMG, I want to go to your wedding after my wedding's over so I can have a serious SCARF fest. You'd be fine without a cake. Cut one of those big chocolate chip cookie cake things. Still a cake and it's something you're going to be serving anyway.

You definitely don't have to have a wedding cake if you don't want one! I love your idea of cookies and a milkshake! I went to a wedding that had a cookie with a shot glass of milk and I loved it!

What the hell did USA Sparklers say? Thanks for flagging someone who said something wrong ladies!

Seriously ladies thank you for letting me know that things sound good at the wedding. The food really was awesome at the tasting and really filling. I just think cake would end up getting wasted!

If you don't want cake you don't have to have it! you could have gormet cupcakes, cake pops, donuts from a local bakery, a candy/dessert station, maybe even local made ice cream if you have that available! kabobs.com has REALLY GOOD little desserts. they're thaw and serve, sell in bulk. I tried some and they are delicious. they're like 1.5 inches big so I'd say each person would want at least 4 or 5 but that's something you could possibly consider.

If you don't want the cake, then there's nothing wrong with it. You will have plenty of food to choose from. She probably just feels like the cake is a sentimental tradition.

We are doing a small cake for the purpose of wedding cake, i.e. cake cutting. But other than that we are serving various fruit pies!

I would honestly be a little sad without the cake, but I wouldn't hold it against you. Smiley smile
