I don't want a stupid cake.

Sorry. This is me venting it out. I don't want a wedding cake.

I've never been a big fan of cakes. My favorite desserts would be cookies, fruit tarts or pie. Our wedding already is having a massive amount of food and our tasting was seriously off the chain. We are serving 5 butlered hors d'oeuvres, having one antipasti station and one Philly pretzel station, and then serving salad and entrees. For dessert, we guests will be given warm cookies and a shot glass with chocolate milk shake since our wedding falls on National Milk Shake day. Also, we are having 2 full service bars and one signature bar whipping up mojitos.

My mom is telling me that we have to have a wedding cake. I just feel like we're having so much that nobody is going to miss it. I just feel like it will be such a waste. Nobody is going to NEED cake. As far as cookies go, we're serving chocolate chip, snickerdoodles and double chocolate chip. Is anyone else not doing a cake??

LET THEM EAT CAKE! No, jk. If you don't wan it, don't have it.

If your mom is REALLY pushing for it, have her buy it.

I think your fine without a cake, but you should still have a "cutting" of whatever you please.

I love cake, but even I think most wedding cake tastes like cardboard. I don't think I'd even notice if you didn't have cake. I don't even think I'd notice if you didn't do the "cake cutting" moment.

And I love that other brides have done donuts--I haven't even though about our menu yet, but I've already told FH I want to do donuts instead of cake. I love me some donuts.

We aren't having a traditional cake and aren't doing any kind of "cutting" ceremony. Our whole reception is just cheesecake & coffee. I am trying to figure out what to do about my own children (ages 10 & 11) not liking cheesecake...

I did not care if we had cake. I actually preferred cupcakes when we first started planning but found out FH was adamant on having cake so since he has such a sweet tooth we are having a 2 tier cutting cake for us and sheet cakes for our guests. I am actually really excited about the 2 flavors we chose for our guests and ourselves. Our tasting was delicious!

OMG, I agree! CUT A GIANT COOKIE! and dip it in milk before feeding the piece to each other. That would be adorable!!!

You can get one of those cake topper buntings to put on it and then who can complain about that!?

We hate cake too! We've had some opposition from parents on this (particularly my dad's girlfriend who is a baker) but I can't stand her so I don't care what she thinks! We're doing 3-5 different flavors of pie and we'll cut/serve one of them to each other for the "cake cutting". Do what makes you happy! Life's too short!

Yeah, I just put FH in charge and said I don't even want to know about anything. He can fight this battle with my mom :-)

Also here are other cookie cake ideas - just for fun. I'm actually doing the oreo one for my FH's grooms cake.

I would miss the cake. In part because I'd wonder when you'd would be cutting the cake and also, I just love cake.

    Mmmm cake.

We're having a VERY small sweetheart cake and cupcakes, cookies, eclaires, French macaroons, and canollis. No cake will be served. The stupid cake is just for cutting because my mom insists. But FH and I are notorious nibblers after drinking, so we'll probably eat our cake at midnight back in our hotel room!

I am the same way! I'm more of a brownie girl and would rather have that than cake. I only like the frosting on cake anyways.

    OMG I LOVE insomnia!!!

Yea and I don't think your guests will be confused. That's what we're doing. Especially if all you cut is a small cake or pie, they should get the point.

I could see them being confused if you had a huge ass cake, cut into it, and it never got served.

I don't like pie either. I like pie filling but not pie. For a brief minute I did think about mini pies.

We're doing cheesecake, because its both of our favorites. We're just ordering from cheesecake factory, slapping a cake topper on it and calling it a day!

We'll still cut it, but it won't be the grand to do.

I can't imagine a wedding without a cake, but that's because I love wedding cakes.

but ifyou don't, then I like Tina BoBina's idea. sounds like your mom is the one that wants the cake anyway.

I agree with you! Cakes are unnecessary, I wouldn't do one, but we have to because it's part of our package and I can't trade it for anything else Smiley sad. But quite honestly we would have been totally fine with just the sweets table that my FMIL wants and the ice cream bar the FH wants.
