i don't think my mom wants us to have a disney wedding?

Shawna, on December 18, 2018 at 12:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 19
So I told my mom we are having a disney wedding (we live 1.5 hrs away from the park) and she doesnt seem to keen on the idea insisting that its cheeper to have it around where we live. (Its like 1000 cheeper to have it here where we live) she doesnt believe me that it's only slightly cheeper to have a non disney wedding. Mom isnt contributing at all to the wedding to my knowledge but I feel bad for not going with what she wants. What are you guys doing as far as that/ what do you suggest?

It's your wedding and she's not paying for it. Do what you want. I don't see the problem here. It's okay to tell your mom no.

She’s not getting married. You are. She’s not paying for your wedding. You are. Have the wedding you and your fiancé want.

Do what you want! Don’t let anyone tell you what you should do for your wedding. It’s your day!

I would do what you want, since you aren't dependent on her paying for it.

If she's not paying it's not up to her. Don't base your wedding on her wants. A wedding is a defining moment of adulthood and the decisions should be based on you and your FH as adults and not what mom and dad want.

Can you break it down and show her the cost comparison?

If she isn't paying then she doesn't get a say. If it really is only $1000 cheaper just show her the cost break down.

If that doesn't work then it doesn't matter anyway - it's your day, not everyone will agree with every choice you make for it but it isn't for them it is for you.

    I had another idea,
show her what Disney offers. Show her how once it’s booked they will take care of it all, you get a coordinator, they supply and coordinate all the vendors (that you get through them), they decorate and clean up. It maybe more money but if the difference is small, the high cost would be worth it in my opinion. Even if she’s not contributing Maybe if she sees that and understands where you’re coming from shell leave it alone and not bother you about your choice

Is it cheaper in terms of planning? What about for your guests? When I looked into this, they had to pay their own entrance to the parks...

A wedding is too important for you to give in to the wants of someone who isn’t paying and isn’t knowledgeable on the financial realities. If you can afford it and you want it, then do it. It’s your wedding not hers. My mom is contributing financially and I tell her no all the time lol. And like you she’s my best friend. Because she’s my best friend she’s understanding of my wants and needs.

Remember that you’re the one getting married. Also, she isnt paying for it. You should be open to hearing suggestions from people that matter to you, but ultimately its you and your fiancés wedding, plan yalls wedding you’ve been dreaming of.

This is definitely something to consider. It's rude to have the guests pay for what is essentially entrance to your venue. Are you able to pay for the park entrance fees for all of your guests if this is the case?

I was wondering about park fees too - do the guests have to pay to get in?

DISNEY wedding? YES!!! A bit o' advice for any peanut gallery (even for moms who try their best)... no pay, no say.

That said, is it also 1.5 hours each way for all guests? That's a bit of a drive. If you can get a good hotel rate, I would LOVE to stay the night at a Disney hotel as a guest. But that might not be doable time/cost-wise for all guests. If you're having a very small wedding of family & a few friends probably ok. But think about the friends & family you really want there. Can they swing it? Honestly, if not a close friend of mine I wouldn't want to do a 3-hour RT drive for a wedding, nor would I pay $250+ for a hotel room.

I think you should show her,
my mom was a little hesitant on the idea as well but I took her to the wedding showcase and once she saw what they offer and do she was hooked lol, a lot of people don’t really understand what Disney has to offer so maybe if you talk to her more in depth about she will open up Smiley smile
