I don't like wedding dresses

Ashley & Greg, on January 1, 2016 at 5:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

I am not a dressy girl,I play sports and ride motorcycles and we'll don't wear dresses at all. Though I want a dress on my wedding day I'm having a heck of a time finding one I like. I go to try on styles of dresses this week and am ordering online but I am worried that 1. I'll never find a dress I'll like let alone love. 2. My hair won't go with my dress 3. I won't be able to get the only dress I have fallen in love with even though I absolutely love it. ( yes I found 1 dress I love but it'd out of budget) photos continued in the comments

That's a beautiful dress! How much out of budget? You can check tradesy and other resale sites to get a little break on the price.

The is a very common dress style. My dress is like that and is 10K but your picture says that one is $400. You just have to know what designers and such to look at. Have you been to davids bridal? Also look at resale sites like tradesy.com and preownedweddingdresses.com

JJshouse makes ripoffs of real designers. Do your research and be careful with online ordering.

I'd suggest going to a resale bridal salon. They often have a section of $99+ of beautiful gowns. I paid $800 for mine, but the year before (when it was new) it went for $1600. You can find some beautiful gowns and amazing deals at a resale salon.

    Hello fellow rider! And welcome!

You can find something I promise. There are tons of styles and options and don't think you need to stay with white....color is fine also. FYI... here's where I stuffed my dress the day I bought it.

J crew and Nordstrom both have lines that are bridal but not typical bridal. May be worth taking a look, the price tags are also lower. You could also consider a white prom or pageant dress.

Do not buy your dress there. Look at resale shops, other non bridal places.

Since you have received responses for the dress - I have to say I think that hairstyle looks great and you will not have a problem at all with it "going with your dress" Don't stress Smiley winking

They bought and wore there dresses to there weddings and loved them I seen each and every one of them! Smiley smile my friend got married last year bought two off there and all her bridesmaid dresses not an issue at all. My friend bought a dress off there about 2 years ago as well for prom and one for a ball so I've seen about 6 dresses from jjhouse and not one has been bad

Other routes to consider are the prom dress route; see if you can get a similar style and order it in white! Or a bridesmaid dress, as they are typically less expensive.

I know you're keen on JJsHouse, but also check out: www.azazie.com , www.weddingtonway.com , www.houseofbrides.com . All excellent and legit sites to order from, and all have a range of budgets. Especially since you only have just shy of 5 months left, often sites like Azazie could be your best bet as they make to order and only (right now) have a 4 week turnaround time.

Try David's bridal they are having their $99 gown sale at the moment. I'd be skeptical of ordering things from online retailers from china

What about renting a dress? Have you ever heard of rent the runway? It'll probably fit into your budget and they have not necessarily wedding gowns but maybe something close?

We got our dresses from a consignment shop. That's one option.

Also, if you know the style you want, you could search online for a used one. Sites like Preowned Wedding Dresses have a lot of dresses that are used, samples, or just dresses that a bride bought and later changed her mind about.

Rental dresses are a theoretical option. The problem is that each dress can only be used a few times due to the need for alterations. And the cost of cleaning the dress between brides is high. Thus, a rental makes sense only if the dress starts out very expensive--which means that the cost of renting it may be more than the cost of buying a less expensive (particularly used) dress.
