i do not want to be one of my best friends "groomsmaids" and i dont know how to tell them...

My best friend is getting married and yes I was/am excited for them and I agreed at first to be one of their "groomsmaids" but as time has passed I have decided I just want to attend the wedding. I don't want to be in it. How can I tell my best friend this without losing their friendship?

I would write down the reasons that you don't want to be a groomsmaid anymore and let them know that way. If their wedding is soon, I would honestly suggest just sticking it through, since they are probably having a lot of pressure on them right now with other wedding details and you declining to be a part of it would probably have other altercations they would need to fix.

With all this said, if it's far away and they have time to choose another person, I would just approach them with love and let them know your feelings. It's super sweet of them to want you to be a part of their special day, and you can mention that, but also mention that you would be more excited to be a part of it as an onlooker.

Yeah, Chantal pretty much hit the nail on this one for sure. Very good advice.

Why don’t you want to be a groomsmaid?

I don’t take the phrase best friend lightly, so if someone in my wedding party didn’t want to be in “just cause”, I’d feel hurt.
That being said, if they said It was money or they don’t want to have eyes on them or my requests we’re too much for them, I’d understand if they were up front.
