My grandmother said she was NOT going to attend if we served alcohol at our wedding. We agreed and said we werent going ot serve it. But I have told several guests, though we arent serving it, you may bring your own. Is this tacky?? Also, surrounding our venue are FOUR different police stations. So...

So we dont want to be held resposible for anyone if they get a DUI or worse have an accident.

    Perhaps Grandma should be reminded that Jesus turned water in to wine. ;-)

    I'll have to admit I was a bit harsh on Grandma, but here's the thing:

    Every frickin' day, a bride on here says, "Person I love won't attend my wedding if [X]." Usually, "If my ex/your other parent attends" or "if I can't bring my yowling kids to your elegant evening reception." In this case, it's if there's even a dash of alcohol.

    Why is it OK to hold other people's weddings hostage to suit our own needs?

    @Shannon...I couldn't have said it better myself.

    @Heather M.....Amen!

    @Kathy....You know I will never figure out how certain sects of people who believe in Jesus Christ simply miss the part of the bible that tells of the wedding feast at Canaan.

    I detest the over use of the word, "Christian." A Christian is one who believes and follows the teachings of Christ. Catholics, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists...are all Christians. You don't have to be "born again" to be Christian. Putting back my soap box.

    Sorry, just my dos pesos!

    I am thinking a mango margarita would be quite nice right about now. Smiley smile

    Actually, my wedding adult only. I have had SEVERAL people cancel on the grounds that they couldn't bring their kids (even though I offered to pay for childcare), two brothers and my sister will not be in attendance. And that is OK with me.

    I cant really say that I see grandma holding my wedding "hostage", If I didn't want her there she would be find with us sending her a picture. But thats not what WE wanted. His parents are dead.... and my mom and grandmother are all we have left.

    Not that, that was anyone's business, but maybe that will give you an idea of why I want my grandmother there!

    Plenty of weddings have gone on without one drop of alcohol ... and they were fun ... and yes I hate to be the one to break this to you but in most states ... if someone has to much to drink at an event you are hosting then they can and will be held liable in the case anything happens ...

    You can also have an after party ... and have the alcohol there, grams won't want to go more than likely ... so you should be okay.
