How to seat my uneven bridal party? 3 bridesmaid, 1 best man.

FutureMrsB (Aussie Bride!), on January 21, 2013 at 3:24 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Hi ladies (and gents)

So we were always planning to have an uneven bridal party, with me having three bridesmaids & FH having a best man and groomsman. Anyway, so some of you may have seen my post about the groomsman going AWOL with a worsening drug addiction. We have tried everything but he doesn't want helping and he has moved out.

Anyway... so now we have three bridesmaids and one best man. I don't believe in asking someone else just to make up numbers. How should we seat them? We are having a big u shaped table with the bridal table across the back and our family and friends down the sides. Should I have all of my girls to my side and be uneven or should one jump across and sit on FH's side? Any other suggestions?

At my first wedding, we had MOH and 3 groomsman, she sat next to me and the guys all sat on his side. This time around it was uneven again -3 bridesmaids 2 groomsman- we had a sweetheart table and seated everyone else at a table next to us.

I'd put your MOH (or one bridesmaid) next to his BM.

Why don't you just spread them out and let them sit with their dates?

I'm with Chelle... I did a sweetheart table for me and hubby, and then our party was spread out amongst the other guests... some sat with their families, some sat with other friends with their dates.... and they were quite happy with that arrangement

We can't sit them with their dates because only one has a partner who may not even be able to make it due to his cousins wedding. We're not doing a sweetheart table because we are doing one big u-shaped table fitting ALL of our guests on it.

If all of your guests will fit at one table, it's really not going to matter that the bridal party may extend further out on one side than the other. You can seat the BM next to him, and your attendants next to you.
