How to say Thank you

Tracey, on March 23, 2021 at 1:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

Good friends of ours are hosting our wedding in their very large back yard. We are trying to think of ways to thank them. As we have been both married before we are asking for no gifts but instead that they bring a nice bottle of wine that will be given to our hosts who our building a wine cellar as part of their renovations. I still don’t think that is enough and that doesn’t personally come from us. Any suggestions on how to say thank you.

Edited to add there will be a letter in the invitation to explain our request

While the thought is good, you may have many guests who do not comply. It is traditional/customary to give gifts to the couple getting married, if you don't register, you will get gifts you don't want and can't return. Also it's outside of the norm for guests to give gifts to anyone except the couple, you will have many confused guests who will not participate in that.

Send thank you cards to all those attending.

Love this idea! I think it will be a very sweet surprise to the couple hosting you seeing that they are wine lovers. If it's worded somewhere that you a requesting bottles of wine, I feel like most adults will honor that.

I may would do something from you and your husband in addition, so it's a gift from you two rather that your guests. Maybe gift them a weekend getaway?

You should give a very generous host gift. A gift card to a spa or a very nice restaurant, or even both really, would be appropriate.

I love this! So unique! Maybe have a chef come in and cook for them to pair with one of their bottles of wine! Dinner gift cards are always nice too!

I love the idea of having a private chef cook them a meal, or more than one, to enjoy one of, or more than one, of their bottles. Smiley winking

I'd also consider sending a giant cheese and/or charcuterie basket to enjoy the day after the wedding. They'll probably be exhausted after hosting so extravagantly and would love food they can "grab and go" with. I also really like the brunch baskets from Wolferman's for this same idea. But this would be in addition to a several hundred - low thousands actual gift.
