How to save money on wedding necessities

Kayla, on September 28, 2019 at 3:35 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5
What are some tips and trick for people who dont have a lot of money saved up nor have much help from family members/know people who will do it a bit cheaper, to throw a fun get together for the wedding ceremony and reception? (Decor, food, flowers, officiant, bartender, etc.) We have the venue and thankfully they lowered the price of it a bit so we have some wiggle room here and there, we are about 10 months away!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You could make flowers and decor in general super minimal.

If you already have your venue, the food, bar, decor, bouquets, and vendors are left and they are expensive! Can you bring in your own food? A cute cake Idea is a rice crispy treat cake (1/50th of the cost!). Pizza or Italian for dinner, a bottle of wine at each table instead of an open bar, or buy your own alcohol from Costco or something. Speakers and a Playlist instead of a DJ. I'm repurposing bridesmaid bouquets as the flower decor on my Mr and Mrs table. We'll have two vases set up to go that we can just plop the bouquets in after the ceremony. You can build submersible centerpieces for less than $10 a piece or go light on centerpieces with votive candles and flower petals. Buy flowers from a nearby store, or wholesale shop instead of a florist. Or you can use Sola flowers.

Are you able to bring your own food in?
Id say for decor-keep it simple. Decor adds up quick and then you are stuck with it after. Check out goodwill for vases, jars, even dollar store.
I honestly am finding alot of my decor off of facebook marketplace! Brides sell their wedding decor so cheap on there. My state(wisconsin) even has a facebook group to sell your wedding decor- check if your state has one!
To save money on an officiant, ask a family member or friend to do it! All they have to do is fill out a form online to become legal to marry people. I asked my uncle to marry us, its going to save us hundreds of dollars!
We are doing fake flowers, i actually bought my bouqets from a previous bride on facebook. 6 boquets for $50 total!!.
I am getting married October 2020, so im currently stocking up on fake flowers at michaels, hobby lobby during the fall clearance sales
Honestly its one day, dont spend a ton. There are ways to save! People get caught up in buying stuff and the fun of it. Make a list of what you need and what you want to spend on each.
Make a list of what you need for decor or centerpieces and start searching for items.
Oh, and NEVER pay full price for anything. Always look for coupons or wait for a sale LOL

Cut your guest list. Fastest way to reduce costs.

My FH and I are getting married in 2 years. To help reduce costs so far, we are having a Sunday wedding, dollar store fish bowl vases that we’re spray painting and fake flowers with peacock feathers that I got from a family friend who has wild peacocks on his 11 arch property, using LED candles (a mix of a gift set from a friend and the dollar store), FH’s cousin is bartending for free. Also in the meantime we are collecting recycling and taking it to get money (so far we’ve gotten $50-ish) and have a lose change jar that is for the wedding.
