How to let guests know ceremony is outside with indoor reception?

Jen, on November 21, 2011 at 4:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

How do I let guests know that my ceremony is outside with an indoor reception. Can I do this on the directions card, or do I need to put it in the actual wording?

Our invites read like this:

Through marriage we are given

the gift of a new beginning,

a new family and a new life

We, ME and FH along with

Child 1, Child 2 and Child 3

invite you to witness

our beautiful beginnings

on Saturday

At four o’clock in the afternoon

I think it would be acceptable to literally say:

"Outdoor ceremony, indoor reception to follow"

But that's just my opinion. Miss Manners may say something else. Smiley smile

I included an information sheet with our invitations, so if you wanted to do that you could include that kind of info there.

Are you having a wedding website? If so you can just put information about your ceremony letting people know that it is at an outdoor location and to dress accordingly for the weather.

Do you have a rain plan?

Thanks Ladies, There is not a wedding website, but I am doing an informational sheet with directions inside the envelopes. Our rain plan is to just do the ceremony in the reception hall, its all at the same venue.

By word of mouth anytime anybody asked I informed them oh it's outside . With my group of people I just have to tell a few and it spreads like wild fire

Word of mouth, website, also on the direction card; maybe with a little *:

*we will be united in marriage in the garden of The Green Mill Inn"

    or, you could add it to the bottom of the invite;

We, ME and FH along with

    Child 1, Child 2 and Child 3

    invite you to witness

    our beautiful beginnings

I'm having the same thing and I just put this on my invitation and my wedding website.

Join us in the garden for an outdoor ceremony overlooking the skyline.

Then we will move inside to the ballroom to eat, drink, and dance the afternoon away...

Thank you so much Ladies. I knew I could get plenty of ideas from you. Its nice to know that I don't have to stress over the little things, someone on here has already solved almost every issue, or at least been thru it!
