How to let guest know the wedding date has been rescheduled?

Felicity, on July 8, 2017 at 9:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

Hi WW friends! I need etiquette advice. My FH was just offered a great position in corrections. Academy starts very soon and goes for 6 weeks. The wedding is in 33 days and is scheduled on Friday. The problem we face is that he will not be able to miss a day of academy for the wedding (and we can't have a wedding without a groom!) I have emailed the vendors and they might be able to reschedule, thank God! The question is, how do i let the guests know?? Thanks for your help in advance!

Sounds like solid advice from PP. Good luck with the logistics and congratulations to your FH!!! What a great opportunity.

You need to call your guests ASAP, especially those coming from out of town.

The good news is the only oot guest is the pastor... So far. Rsvps are not due till july 20th. I am not sure if we should just reschedule to the next day or a few weeks. I am so proud of FH. This is a dream job for him and is in the direction of his dream career.

Having lived in that LEO lifestyle. Don't count on him having much time off or the time he wants off after just graduating. So even if you set the date for 3 Saturdays after graduation there's no gaurantee he will have that day off.

That's another concern. He would have rotating days off.

My Letitia Baldridge etiquette book suggests printed announcements should be mailed in the same typeface of the wedding invitations. If you're concerned they will not arrive in time, you can email the message. I'm attaching a photo of her suggested language. She says to expect worried phone calls!

I would notify your guests asap that the wedding will be rescheduled because of FH's new employment. Wait until he is given a schedule after he completes training to pcik a date.

I like the idea of sending out an official postponement but I would start contacting guests asap as well. Out of town guests have surely already started booking flights and making arrangements whether they have rsvp already or not.

The chances of all your vendors being available for the Saturday after or any Saturday this year are really slim. I wouldn't wait another minute to notify your guests.

How many guest do you have coming?

We have 100 guests. My uncle is the pastor, we would have to rebook his flight, the cater IS available the next day, the venue is available (its the elks lodge), my flowers are from sams club, my photographer is available, so far it could work! Just need prayers lol
