How to Keep cool on wedding day?!

Mary, on July 15, 2017 at 12:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

I am getting married towards the end of August and I need advice with how to keep cool! I know that the same date a year before was 97 degrees so I want to prepare for hot weather. I have a long dress that has 3 layers and our cocktail hour and photos will all be outside. Any tips for how to stay cool? A co-worker mentioned to me to use the icy-hot stuff but just the icy part. Thanks in advance!

Icy hot is one thing. You can't use just one or the other. It's a medicated cream

@marissa literally LOL'd at your comment.

Icy hot is called icy hot because it goes on icy and then gets hot.

Seriously don't use icy hot. Honestly the only way to avoid being hot while outside in 97 degree weather is to not do it or be in a swimsuit which isn't exactly bridal. We live in Florida and purposely don't do anything in summer that requires more than minimal clothing. I hope your photog is good at photoshopping out sweat.

There's really nothing you can do. If it's gonna be hot that day, it's gonna be hot. Can you do cocktail hour inside?

Can you move cocktails inside? 97 degree heat is no joke.

I wonder if providing umbrellas, simple hand fans and ice water might be all you can do? I am buying a small electric hand fan for myself. Some of them come with water spritzers (be careful not to spray your face though- makeup!!!).

OMG I can't stop laughing!!! But in all seriousness, you shouldn't have cocktail hour outside. It's not healthy for anyone.

Is just the ceremony outside? Or reception as well?? Keeping your guests cool is a priority. 97 degree weather is brutal. Perhaps use a cooling towel just before walking?

I personally could not attend an outside wedding where it would be 97 degrees.

97 degrees is way to hot to be outside in formal wear.

The icy hot thing made me laugh so much. A small hand fan might be nice but it's not going to make a big difference.

Strap a small battery powered fan to to your leg and point it up towards your cooch.

This is the funniest thing I've heard this week! My 16 year old read it and thought it was a good idea to just use the icy too and I lost it all over again!

Ok seriously though you, your wedding party, guests, and vendors are going to sweat your asses off and stink halfway through the day.

Whatever your "in case of rain" plan is, do that. Do not subject your guest to liquor + 97 degree hot weather. I would pass tf out.

Dude, my FH is super heat sensitive and would pass OUT if forced to sit through this. We wouldn't be able to attend. Think about your guests' comfort please.

I'm guessing OP doesn't mean the muscle cream -- which totally does stink -- but one of those liquid filled neck packs that can go in the freezer or microwave.

    Or I hope she does.

Mary, IS there a way to not have cocktail hour outside? Because pictures will be bad enough....

Put a few of those liquid filled neck packs in the freezer and then wrap them around your legs with something protective underneath.
