How to do your own hair???

Mrs. Vitucci, on August 16, 2011 at 7:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Right now I am looking at spending between $250/$300 for makeup and hair for the big day and I was just thinking of trying to have my MOH and I do my hair. Attached is a pic of kind of what I'm looking for very basic, I also have a small flower and veil.

For my makeup I was thinking of hiring a MUA to come to the venue or hotel because I really really know nothing about makeup.

Is anyone else doing their own hair?

We are going to do a trial on Friday night to see how it goes, I have my fingers crossed!

Don't do it unless you're REALLY good at doing your hair... because remember, it has to look good ALLLL night long! I can do my hair up cute, but it starts getting messed up within a couple hours. That's why I had a pro do mine!

I think that hair style is simple enough that you or your MOH could do it and save money. I did my hair like that for a wedding I attended and it was fine all night, even after 4 hours of dancing. I used Garnier hairspray and sprayed each section lightly right before curling. Then just spray all of your hair after you loosen them a bit with your fingers. You will need to straighten your hair first since you have such small spirals and then curl with a 1'' curling iron for those curls. IMO, its not worth paying $200 for someone to do something you are capable of doing yourself.

I'm doing my own hair. Kind of like what you're going for, but only pinned on one side. The curls would never last through the ceremony for me (no matter the product, no matter whether I pay $120 for it at a salon, etc. I've tried it all), so it will just be the natural waves I have and some sturdy pins.

I'm going to my regular hairdresser, but I'm not attaching "wedding" label to it. I just need a simple style too, so it should work. And save me a couple of hundred $$.

    That picture is stunning!!

I was originally going to have my hair done... but I hate having people other than my regular stylist do it and I know it wouldn't withhold a night of traveling four hours before the big day... so I'm doing it myself! Same with makeup.

That is a lovely picture, but I don't think you should do your own hair unless you or your MOH are professionals... You don't want to have to worry about your hair on your big day... If price is a problem try looking around at other salons...

I'm paying for mine to be done. But I also found this amazing salon with the sweetest & coolest stylists who charge wedding hair as if it is prom hair. They don't rape (double or triple cost) just because it's your wedding. I love them.

I'm definitely not doing my own hair. I know wayyyy too many stylists who would KILL to do my hair to even try to do it myself lol. Same with makeup. I wouldn't last with the makeup anyway, since my hands aren't the steadiest. I found a stylist I know and trust and he will be doing all of my girls' hair and makeup, as well as mine. He's not charging me much, although I told him I would be willing to pay his normal rates. I guess it's just one of the perks of where I work ^_^

Edit to add: He did my hair and makeup for my profile pic. Only the edges of the picture were photoshopped, but the rest is pure and straight from his camera.

I'm doing my own hair Smiley smile I am getting it styled a few weeks before the wedding though (cut/trim and a digital perm) with my stylist, so it will help make it easier to style for my wedding while also ensuring it will last. I'm wearing it down with loose curls/waves and I have done hair before (for both myself and other people) so I'm pretty comfortable with doing this...

I did my own hair, but I have a chin-length bob so it was pretty easy.

I don't know how many times I have walked out of a salon, and not liked the end result. With my naturally curly hair I am VERY picky, so I figure I will save the stress, hassle, disappointment, and $$ and do my own!!! LOL

I figured with a 2pm wedding, I'd be too stressed to do my own hair. Makeup I'm doing myself, something simple.
