How should your ring fit?

Stacey, on October 4, 2010 at 3:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Okay, so we recently got our wedding bands (yay!) the problems is I am now worried about the fit...

my ring goes on good, takes a little pushing to get over the knuckle and then when it is around my finger, its snug. Not tight where it is cutting into the skin but its not spinning either. Im wondering if I should get it a half size (or smaller if possible) before the wedding? Im also worried about when it gots warm out again my ring being to tight because my finger do swell and I hate the idea of not having it for a week or so later on if I would decide to do it then....

Also, my fh ring to me seems to big. It slips right on and off, to the point I had him shake his hand really fast and the ring fell off, to him its comfortable but it makes me worry, should we resize both rings before the wedding or am I being a nervous bride??

P.s My Eright fits into the band above, its the same size but since this fits alot higher makes me wonder if it is to tight. My fingers used to swell to wear I couldnt take my ering off but could still wear it comfortably.

Now I dont know what to do!! Smiley sad

I always thought I was a size 7 on that finger, but the jeweler wanted me to get a 5.5. I begged for a 5.75. LOL. He told me that you want your ring to be tight. Now, in the summer when it's crazy humid, it just doesn't come off at all. DS's is a little big, but it was only $50, so we're not too concerned if he loses it. He can't even wear it when he's at the base.

I would be worried about a ring that comes off when he shakes his hand--that is too loose, in my opinion. I will say that DS's ring seems really loose to me, but he hasn't lost it so far (and well, if he does, it was $30 on Amazon so it wouldn't break us). My ring slips on pretty easily but is hell to take off--it's a slim band and it's hard to get a good grip on it, I think, plus I have knobby knuckles so ring sizing is a little tricky for me. I do think that it might have been better to get my e-ring a half-size smaller since it's easier to take off a ring with a stone on it, at least for me, but the band is plated so we can't resize it, and it's not a big deal.

I'm not sure what your concern is about your ring--do you think it should be sized up? I definitely wouldn't make it any smaller, and I wouldn't do anything to it before the wedding. If you're worried about your fingers swelling in heat, you have several months before THAT'S going to be a problem.

Yes, I am wondering If the ring should be sized to be a little bigger then it is now.

I had to get mine resized as it was a lil big and now even slightly moves around so may have to get it done again but don't want it to be too tight. I am waiting though because I will prolly end up sauthering the wedding band and engagement ring together so they stay like they are supposed to.

His ring fit but was a little snug so we got another just like it the next size up which is a lill big of course. Cant sz his because its a tungsten with dragon inlay design so he has two depending on what he needs.

I have that problem too-my knuckles are not bigger than where my ring(s) sit,so I have to be a bit snug fitting.

Standard size 7's are too big-especially when my hands get wet.

I had my e-ring sized to a 6 because the ring sizer said that...But then whenever my fingers swell up it is too tight.

I have decided that probably a 6.5 is what I need...

I would get your FS ring resized for sure... DH ring is really loose on his finger but he has knobby knuckles so it's really hard for him to get the ring over it... I have very slim finger and knuckles and mine is pretty snug... I don't have to twist my finger to get it off but it also doesn't fling off if i shake my hand... In the morning my fingers are a little swollen and it's harder to get off but during the day it's very comfortable... I like being able to take it off, when it gets stuck i feel claustrophobic for some reason... i don't like things stuck on me... haha, hope it helps...

I was told you should have to walk your ring off your finger if you know what I mean.

Have you tried on the ering with the wedding band(s)? Ive noticed the thicker a ring (or the rings together) are, the tighter they fit on the finger. Sooo..if you are having trouble thinking it is too tight now, I would worry about it being even tighter once you have the whole set on together.

Your FHs ring def. sounds too loose. He doesnt have to make it tight to have it fit better. my e-ring is pretty lose and slides a lot, but I have no fear of it falling off if I shake it or something.

Definitely don't get yours resized before the wedding. You're better off waiting until it is warmer and seeing whether it still fits, since the amount of change between winter and summer is quite variable. On the other hand, it sounds like FS should get his resized now. Falling off would clearly be an issue.
