How much to guests ACTUALLY care about chairs?

Molly, on August 8, 2017 at 11:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 60

I'm not personally a fan of chavari chairs for several reasons even though they're super popular, but I also know that a plain plastic folding char is super cheap and tacky. I love the look of wooden farm chairs, but they also cost quite a bit to rent. I'm thinking of going with the white padded wooden folding chairs for both the ceremony and reception even though they aren't my favorite. I know I personally like farm chairs better - but is it worth the money if no one will really be paying attention to the chairs?

I think no one really cares unless they're cheap metal folding chairs. I do agree that white chairs look so much better, so if you have room in your budget I would go for it, but I don't think it's a make or break thing.

I'd go with whichever chairs you like and go with the style of wedding you are planning!

If the chair looks fragile as if it is going to break underneath then they will care. Otherwise, guests don't care. The white chairs are fine.

Thanks all. That's pretty much what I thought. I'm also the type of person to obsess and be indecisive about things, so hearing it from other people helps.

Go with the white ones! They are still pretty!

I also hate Chivari chairs! I do think they're cute, but they're so uncomfortable. I got lucky, my venue has these awesome banquet chairs. Heavily padded memory foam back and seats. They're a really ugly burnt orange/rust color so we're getting chair covers and sashes (which some people don't like the look of, but it's better than the rust color). I would just pick the most comfortable option to be honest.

I don't think guests care about chairs either! I was considering putting a ribbon around each chair for $3/chair extra then thought I'm just wasting money! All they care about is watching you get married, food, drinks, music, dancing and fun!

I think the white ones are fine.

I don't think people are really going to notice/care too much. If you are worried about how much the ones you like best cost, go with the other ones.

I do not remember the look of the chairs from any wedding I've ever been to, including my first wedding. 0.0

As long as the chairs are halfway comfortable, I'm good. Guests only sit for the ceremony and the duration of the dinner. The rest of the time they are up visiting or dancing.

There are almost no chairs that I would hate so much that I would use chair covers or sashes. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.

I think it depends on the venue and look you're going do. Personally I wouldn't want white chairs in my reception room, I'd prefer brown but they have white chairs for the ceremony and I don't care about those

Consider guest comfort. As a pp mentioned, I also cannot remember ever saying WOW what beautiful chairs...I do remember being miserably uncomfortable though

I couldn't even tell you what our chairs looked like, and it was our wedding. They had cushions and backs. Thats about all I know..

Thank! This makes me much less worried about the chairs. And now I'm wondering why I was even worried in the first place.

I too don't remember any chairs from any weddings I've been too. I actually did opt for the white metal folding chairs after looking at them in a bunch of pictures realizing they don't look too bad. Cheap. Comfortable per my mother-in-law. Done.

Actually, scratch that, I got plastic folding chairs. I thought they were more comfortable for big butts than the wooden padded ones. And pictures!

This is a hang up for me too! Honestly, out venue has these white plastic folding chairs with grey metal so I opted for white wooden folding chairs. Depending on RSVPS I may still change my mind but we are getting a chandelier and I just don't think folding chairs would go with a chandelier lol
